I have been on Spiro 50 mgs for 2 1/2 months. I am going to stop the BCP in 3 weeks. If I up the Spiro will this mitigate any

breakouts. I am TERRIFIED AND FREAKING OUT :(

I am currently clear. I know a lot of people start Spiro when their skin goes nuts after coming off BCP - so I imagine I am one step ahead but just don't know.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!! so much anxiety over this.

Try and not be too anxious because in my opinion stress can make your skin worse.

Despite the many horror stories you read about people breaking out badly after going off bc pills (which I believe are true) it does NOT happen to everyone! Keep in mind that people are more likely to comment if they have had a very negative experience.

My daughter went off birth control last fall and her skin has remained the same as while she was on it - not 100% clear but about 80% clear which was exactly the same as when she was taking bc pills, it never made her skin perfect.

I think you are right that you are ahead of the game by being on spiro for a couple of months already. You may very well have no skin issues at all!

If you google ' how to go off birth control without breaking out' you will find several websites/blogs that have suggestions to stop your skin going crazy after going off birth control. Another website I like is by is called The Love Vitamin (I think) Anyway there are a lot of suggestions on how to balance your hormones which might be helpful!

Good luck to you!

Thank you! I actually had the same experience - BCP never made me 100% clear and that is why they put me on Spiro. How long was she on the pills for? Not only am I seeing an endocrinologist tomorrow but I'm seeing a Naturopath next week for extra help to see how else I can regulate hormones. I am going to do everything possible to try to prevent this from happening.

Did your daughter do anything special when she came off?

Definitely don't stop birth control abruptly. Wait till you see the naturopath and come up with a plan to ween yourself off and start regulating your hormones with supplements. It will be a long process and no one can predict the outcome but take it one step at a time.

How do I ween off? I told my gyno I want to do that but he told me DO NOT DO THAT.
