Hi all,
Been a while since I've posted on acne.org, but was just curious as to anyone's experiences with lose dose isotretinoin treatment. It would be to long and monotonous for me to write 'my story' here, (as I've done this previously many times on this site - please feel free to browse my profile or pm if you're interested), but I've been on and off Accutane for 16 years now, at varying doses and lengths of time. Currently I've managed to whittle down to just one 20mg tablet a week - a far cry from where I started all those years ago, but I am still not 'clear'.
Out of curiosity I guess, are there any other Accutane veterans out there with any experiences to tell of low dose treatments?

Well I'm not sure if 5 months makes me a veteran, but I've had a positive experience with a generally low dosage.
Month 1 I took a total of 40mg, two 20mg pills a day.
Month 2, 60mg. A 20mg in the morning, and two 20mgs (40mg) at night.
Months 3-5 I took 80mg. Two 40mgs a day.
I don't know if this dosage is considered high for you, but long story short, I am EXTREMELY satisfied with my results. I'm a 22 year old male who has struggled with bad acne since 16. After 5 months of Accutane (Zenatane) not only is my acne completely clear, I can't even remember the last time I had even a tiny pimple on my face.

i did a first course of accutane for 4 months (10 mg a day for 2 months and 20 mg for the other two) ...my acne did stop by the ending of the third month and i was clear but i didnt finish my course due to high liver counts
now im going on it a second time ...same thing ...10 mg for 2 months and will see where will go from there
all i can say is ...low dose can work at the end ...just get enough cumultive dose so ur acne wont come back
