I started Accutane in November and I am about 2.5 months into my treatment. I have been on a steady dosage of 50mg since I started. My derm says this is a generous dosage as I weigh 115-118lbs. At the beginning of January my face absolutely exploded in cysts and they have not cleared since. My face is literally full of sores all the time, which is far worse than my skin ever was in the past. I am used to cystic acne but my skin was never covered. it would be consistent break outs but not to this extent. I don't ever want to leave my house (even for work or plans with friends) and all i do is sit and cry.
Is this normal? I know that people say acne tends to get worse before it gets better but according to my derm my breakouts should have decreased by now. Any advice or reassurance would be great!

I'm sorry that you're going through a lot with your accutane... but good news. I've seen countless accutane transitions and I've always seen the effects usually take hold at around 12-13 weeks. Everyone's skin if different of course, but you're close to what I believe will be the results you're waiting for (:

Thank you so much. Sometimes it's hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. As time goes on it it gets more and more disheartening but I appreciate your insight!
