Hello yall!
As some of you might know, I was recently prescribed Accutane (Absorica) and I am currently on my 9th day! My dosage is currently at 30 mg, and I am very hopeful. My mom even believes that my acne has cleared up a bit - but I'm thinking it's just the "placebo" effect. So I have some questions: my face is still very oily, when should I expect it to finally dry out? This is what I'm most excited about, as I have always had immensely oily skin and even made my face look bad when I was acne free. Also, when can I expect an initial break out? When can I hopefully start seeing some promising results (and hopefully perfect skin haha)?
Thank you so much everyone!
I think I got a bad breakout about 3 weeks in, and my lips didn't get really bad until after 2 months. My face was less oily after a week though, and was totally excess-oil-free after about 2 weeks.
It's a long process, the best advice I ever saw on the boards was to try to not think about it and compare every day.
Look at some of the journals on here for inspiration. Many have photos and it's amazing how there doesn't seem to be much change for a long time, but then suddenly they're all clear!!
Hang in there and good luck!
Hi
It seems everyone is so different but most people here, hate to say, have an IB
My acne was mild and I was in a pretty decent place when I started..I also used topical retin-a for 10yrs before accutane..none of that matters
Im a little over 2 mnths in and for me with my 2 dosage increases I got bad breakouts
It was about 2-3 weeks after I started tane than again after my dose increased (about 2 weeks after)
It wasted about a week
Right now my skin is normal
I was SUPER oily (using blotting sheets every 1/2hr)
My skin is tight but not peeling and just recently my lips became really really realllly dry (now that I am on 60mg)
I would have to say I stayed oly for a bit..maybe 3 weeks in I dried up, btu also thing it depends on your dose
I was on a very low dose..20mg for the first 2 weeks
GOOOOD LUCK!!!!!
I hear not to really expect much until your 3rd mnth..give or take
