Hi all,

I am wondering if anyone has found the fix for accutane depression? It has been five years since I took it and my life has gotten really bad from the accutane. If i am in a social situation my anxiety goes up because I have trouble processing thoughts, almost like emotionless.

Help!!

You could be in a "depersonalization/derealization" cycle. I used to get this when my anxiety was quite bad, never took accutane though. It was quite the struggle to get over, but I did! and the thing that helped me the most was CBT or Cognitive behavioral therapy. If you can see a social worker, or a psychologist it's something that can really be helped.

Do a google search and see if the symptoms of those things match up to what you're feeling. You're not alone, and there's plenty of great help for you! (:

I've not experienced any depression while on Accutane, but I was under the impression that if one did get depressed while being treated with Accutane, that it GOES AWAY once the Accutane is out of your system.

So maybe it's not from the Accutane.

Regardless of the cause, most people with depression are successfully treated with a combination of antidepressant medications, talk therapy, diet and exercise.

Sometimes it can be tricky at first, finding the right medicine for you, but when you find the right one, it can be a life-changer.

Please, please, please speak with your doctor about this. You shouldn't suffer, regardless of the cause.

Personally, I got depressed from the ACNE, and thought I wouldn't ever be happy again. Accutane was the saving grace for me. Everyone reacts differently though so what's good for one, can be horrible for another.

Please let us know how you're doing and call your doc for an appt asap!
