So I'm close to one month of using accutane (20mg/day). and it seems that the initial flare-up is over. So my question is, can I use my old toner and moisturizer while on accutane? Because I really hope that the redness will fade faster if I use my usually skin care products along with accutane.

By the way, would it be weird If someone use accutane for only 2-3 months? Because my derm told me that she think I just need from 1 to 2 more months before fnishing this course.

It seems the average time on tane is 4-5 mnths (depending on dosage)

I wouldnt go on tane for less than this amount of time

U can use your regular moisturizer or toner as long as it is gentle..meaning i wouldnt use any actives like glyocolic acid etc

I think products for sensitive skin are best...

I agree with the user above, you usually use it from 4-6 months. I would also recommend that you only use a super gentle skin care routine.. a gentle cleanser with no active acne fighting ingredients, and maybe a mild toner without any peeling agents, and a gentle moisturizer (oil and fragrance free possibly).

I just wanted to add my derm said it was Ok to spot with BP..which I have done

but is seems to just make the area more red/irritated and top layer skin peel off

I think at this point let tane do its thing....it seems, to me, blemishes heal quicker if left alone and skin just gets aggravated if other products too aggressive

You can use whatever you want. If it seems to be causing a problem, discontinue it.

I think it's pretty much common knowledge now, that products containing high amounts of alcohol shouldn't be used on anyone's skin. The same is true for products containing petroleum products.

Google it and see what the ingredient names are for petroleum products. Then look for products that don't contain them.

Also, look for the word "non-comedogenic" (how do you spell it??)

This means it won't clog pores.

Just use a common sense routine.
