Hi All!
I've been lurking around the community on here for the past couple of months, looking to see what I can find out before I set off on this journey.
I ended up paying to go to a private dermatologist as I wasn't willing to wait until March on the NHS. The important thing is that I found a derm who was sympathetic to my plight and was happy to sign on the dotted line!
My only concern now is that I've only got a prescription of 20mg/day until Jan 5th, when he assured me it'll get bumped up. I weigh 82kg. Is this a pointlessly low dose? As there's 22 days to go until the appointment, and 28 pills in the pack, do you guys reckon I could get away with double dosing with the remainder, so I'm on 40mg/day for the 6 days before my appointment?
I'm very eager to get things moving, even the IB. The sooner it starts, the sooner it's over with!
Hello!
Great to hear that you were prescribed privately! I too am in the same predicament, don't want to wait on the NHS but struggling to easily find private derm consultants? I'm on the Birmingham / Solihull area, any advice ?
Also! I think stick to the exact dosage he has prescribed for now don't up it on your own (if that's what you meant above?) I've heard great things from some people on here that have only had a 20mg dose. Enough to clear them up completely.
Please stop stalking me, you're all over my posts ;p
I actually had the brilliant plan to split the extra 6 pills over the entire span of time, so I'd have 40mg every 3 days (and 20mg every other day). So the first day I tried it, I drove to London for a meeting and ended up missing it because I puked. So that makes me a COOL GUY. Lord Sugar wouldn't be happy with that. I'm going to stick to the 20mg I think.
I also don't think it was helping that I was taking my pill with breakfast, which for me is just porridge. I've begun to have it with my evening meal instead, which is usually far more decadent.
So today marks day 8, and it feels like things have settled down a little bit. My skin is often flushed as I'm quite fair skinned anyway, but it feels like something's happening. Minor spots are drying up and the skin is simply falling off the top. I had 2 beasts on my face when I started, and they've both reduced in size drastically. I've got a couple of minor whiteheads popping up on my chin that feel quite tickly and large, but when I check in the mirror they're not actually bad at all. Mind games!
I was hoping that some kind of IB might happen soon so that it's out of the way during the Christmas period off work, but that might be wishful thinking.
Hahaha I'm so sorry! I found this post right before I noticed you'd replied to me! No one had ever replied to me before so I assumed no one had commented on my post but alas, I was wrong!
Bloody hell, didn't realise a reaction could be that severe! Seems like you learnt your lesson though!! I think gradually they may up your dosage, I think to begin with they start people off on a smaller one to get used to them first?
Sounds like it is really kicking in though! Is your skin really really dry? How are you tackling that, you using a special moisturiser? What about products for washing your face too? Also is your scalp really dry too? SORRY FOR ALL THE QUESTIONS LOL
Merry Christmas!!!
