NO! I have no doubts....I've tried everything else under the sun and turned down accutane a number of times. At this point I realize that this is the last resort and if it doesn't work so be it...everybody has their shit in life and if mine is acne then I'm going to have to roll with the punches..Thankfully I'm a tall, good-looking guy and I have had success in life with my acne-ridden face up until this point (I contend that one can be honest/brag on forums where nobody knows you because...why not? none of you know me and I'm being honest, I don't need to impress strangers). If I were to stop, I would forever say "what if" Now I'm going in head-strong and will know that I did all that I could....

Not saying this isn't hard as hell, my face is probably worse now--scratch that DEFINITELY worse now then ever. But first of all we are still WAY early in the game. The first thing my derm told me was it is is very possible that I do not see results until after I finish the course. The other thing my derm told me is that accutane has a rediculous success rate and there will be times when I will feel discouraged and I will need to remember that.

I am SO looking forward to re-reading these posts together when we have clear skin...we're gonna be like "HA!! remember when we were all like "ooohh our acne boo hoo what will we do"..Ha that seems like a lifetime ago!!"

Gluck...are you concerned about future scarring or do you have acne that seems to be scarring now?

Wow, I second everything U said..scratch my earlier post :)

so when I get the big nasties it always leaves a flat mark last lasts for MONTHS

BUt I keep reminded myself I can deal with that after tane..after tane..I like the sound of that :)

Ok peeps Im off to wrap some gifts and be productive

For me, the first two months were awful. I didn't start seeing results until the third month, but it was totally worth it!

I had two really bad IB; one from the start, and then the other breakout was when my dosage was upped. I had severe acne for over 2 years so it's hard to say that accutane left me with scars. But I did have some scarring after accutane, which I'm getting Fraxel treatment for right now. My scars weren't that bad though.

I did 2 weeks on 20mg and seems when I upped to 40mg after about a week the SHIT hit the fan!

Now, like everyone, I am dealing with breakouts, dry slips and skin...

BUT I am being a total wimp today...your post was so inspiring.just what I needed

thank you!!!

I agree..your skin looks amazing!!!

Thank you! Even though I'm off Accutane, I can still get zits though. I actually even had a few breakouts after my treatment. The good news is that I realized what triggered these breakouts. I found that if I over-eat or if I have a lot of sugar, I will breakout. And since I've realized that, my face is has been clear! So I can't eat a lot of sweets any more, but that's a small price to pay so it's whatever. I went on accutane because it was affecting my life too much to not go on it. I didn't care what I had to do. I needed to be able to look up. If acne is taking over your life like it did mine, then it's so worth it.

I have to vent a bit...this morning a literal total streak of pustules across my right cheek (where in the heck did those come from???), two small pimple on the end of my NOSE and if that isn't enough of an insult a pencil eraser sized cyst in my left cheek (it is deep you can barley see the slight bump on the outside but don't touch it, ouch!! I don't know if it will stay buried our slowly rise to the surface...but to day is not a winning day.

Day #32...and not looking good. sigh!! And my whole forehead peeled off in the shower.

It's also a bad day for me... Start of breakout #2. I have this huge one on my forehead that seems to be maybe 2 growing together. Argh... I hate those! The others are quite small and bearable... No other new side effects (day #6 on upped dosage (60 mg)). My nose is peeling a bit around the nostrils. Oh God! We have to stay positive and remember it's just a hard time to go through!!

Hey Mary

So sorry..I know a few of us have hit rough patches this week

It seems when I went from 20 to 40mg a day the BIG breakouts began...I cant say for sure but it seems that way

My advice is to please be careful

skin is so thin sensitive on tane

I got 2 big ones and spotted with bp

they truned BRIGHT red the top layer ksin came off and they were soooo raw and sensitive

I didnt even pick/squeeze or anything

TRY to ignore those buggers and leave them alone and let body heal

((HUGS))

Hang in there

kim

Saw the derm today and just came home with month #2 supply...derm was very encouraging and said she doesn't like to ask patients how they think their doing because it is pointless to speculate until after the course due to the roller coaster nature of the meds...I liked that. Although she added that it is very likely I see improvement before the course is over I should not expect it...

Derp thats interesting that the dermatologist said that, kind of puts it into perspective of when you have a breakout it won't last forever.

So I officially started 4 weeks ago today and tomorrow is my first day of taking the full dosage of 60mg. So far on the 30mg I had a bad IB in week 1/2, and then my skin has improved week 3/4 with my neck being the worst area (normally its my chin when not on accutane). Anyway side effects haven't been that drastic, dry lips/skin and minor back pain when at the gym.

I'm fully expecting another breakout next week from going up on dosage which sucks because of christmas/new years etc but I suppose it has to be done.

Probably going to upload photos of my progress when my exams FINALLY finish in a few days.
