I was prescribed OTC for my mild to moderate acne and severe period cramps as well as irregular period cycles.

My acne before i started the pill was concentrated in the TZone area as well as a bit of bumps on my chin. I had tons if black and white heads and zits here and there.

I just finished my second month of OTC. I saw no change or anything in the first month. However, while on the sugar pills of my second pack, i started to break out severely. I currently have the worst skin I have had in my entire life. Cystic pimples, post pimple hyper pigmentation marks EVERYWHERE, tons of red spots. It's atrocious and I've spent many hours crying about it.

I want to stick it out for another month but I'm having second thoughts. Tips? Any personal experiences? Please share everything :)

I was prescribed OTC for my acne. I take 3 months on, no sugar pills, then take a week off, and repeat. I have not found it helpful at all. I've been doing this for over a year. I continue to get large cysts along my jawline/chin. And the week before my cycle is the worst. I recently started using a prescription topical which has been helping beyond belief. The topical is called ziana. Actually ziana is a new medication and my insurance didn't cover it. They wanted $765 for it. So I had my doctor call in prescriptions for the two active ingredients, one prescription for clindamycin (anti-biotic gel) and one prescription for tretinoin (vitamin A derivative). Tretinoin is similar to retin-a. I mix the two together and put a pea size amount of my face and rub it in. It's strong stuff but it has been working awesome. It basically draws out whatever is lurking under your skin- removes the top layer. It has removed my hyper pigmentation and drawn out the "dormant" cysts on my chin. I'm very pleased with it. I've been using it for a week and a half and my skin looks so much better. I know people use OTC for hormonal acne but it just wasn't working for me. My best bet has been with this topical. Hope this helps a little.

My experience with OTC isn't a very good one :(

I had my daughter back in 2006 and was put on OTC. I was on it for 6 years and never broke out. but it made my body feel so awful everytime my period came around and my mood swings were horrible so I stopped taking it...

BIG MISTAKE... I broke out with big cyst and had the worst adult acne I have ever experienced in my life. I have been off of OTC for a year now and I am on antibiotics and topical cream to treat the acne caused my OTC
