Accutane 7 Months - Uncured

I have been taking Accutane for 6-7 months now at 30mg a day. All my surface pimples are gone (but left with red marks/scars), but I developed a lot of cystic acne AFTER starting to take Accutane. One of my cystic pimples has not changed at all since the start of treatment, as shown in the attached photo. The others are hardly visible but I can definitely feel them under the skin. The cystic acne (about 10-15 pimples) is concentrated on both sides of my nose as well as on my jawline.

Is Accutane not working for me? Should I continue use for a few more months? Increase the dosage? Do another cycle?

Your skin looks much better. The only thing that I question, is why such a low dose? I'm at 80mg on my second month. With a low dose, the course is longer. So you may still see better results in the months to come.

Ah I see. I didn't realise it was a low dose - my doctor actually initially prescribed me 20mg per day, and bumped it up to 30mg after 1-2 months. How long is your course for? I think mine will probably be much longer if 5-7 months is just the average course length for higher doses.

hi . i am on 40mg a day and this is the end of the forth month. i was supposed to be finishe this month but i had a zit when i went for my check up on Tuesday so my derm gave me another month and i aslo have a couple of cystic zits which cant be seen but i can feel them. i was on accutane 3 years ao and my skin cleared up and remained clear for 3 years until recently when they came back again. i had the initial breakout again this tym itwas worse than the first tym. my lips peel like crazy so i use vaseline since i get tiny blisters if i use lip glosses. i using neutogena for the dry skin and simple face wash. my derm said i shud use dove soap only tho. he told me not to scrub at all. ur acne will get better but i also think ur dose is low

My lips peel a lot and bleed sometimes, despite the humid weather and the low dose :P

The thing is, I haven't gotten more OR LESS acne for about 2-3 months now (but my lips have still been peeling). All of you still think the accutane effect will kick in AGAIN soon?

Hey my course will be six months...At least that's the plan now. That could always change however.
