Hey guys a little back story. I didn't get acne till I was 26. My skin was never perfect but I didn't have acne. I was on the pill for about 6-7 years prior to my acne with no problems. I pretty sure I was off it for over a year with no problems then I developed acne. I went back on the pill (always Microgynon) hoping it would help and it never did so I came off it again. I've pretty much been struggling with it ever since.I'm 28 now. I had my hormones checked last month because my acne is on the lower half of my face - cheeks/chin/jaw but they came back normal which I was suprised about. I went to the doctor today and she has precribed me what says on the box is co cyprindiol which she called Dianette. I hadn't heard much about this pill so I took the precription and went on my way but after reading up about it back at home I see it is an anti androgen pill and I'm a bit worried about taking it because my skin is dry if anything, not oily. What do you guys think?
Dianette really helped my skin, I was on it for just over a year, have now switched to Cilest so will see if that can maintain things. I think if you make sure that you stick to a gentle cleansing routine, I use No 7 cream cleanser for dry/normal skin and just an e45 moisturiser, then it shouldn't make your skin too dry. Dianette works great for most folk, so if you were going to use birth control anyway I would say give it a go and see if it can settle things down for you. xx
