I am a female and had Accutane for only 2 to 3 weeks. I believed it was low dose as my acne problem was not even severe (Damn the derm who prescribed me with Accutane!!) and I had no side effects while taking it.
Started to lose hair 2 months after for roughly 7 months. Of course I also develped other problems such as low ferritin and low vitamin D.
I'm losing less than 100 (less than 40 on non-shower day) a day for the past 5 months but still more than usual.
Doctors say Accutane should have left my system 6 months after taking it.
My hormone level came back normal. Normal high androgen normal testosterone level.
My trichologist said my hair loss has been triggered by Accutane but prolonged by my low ferritin and low vitamin D.
Is it possible that Accutane is still in my system?
Losing less than 100 a day is normal, but if a trichologist says it's not and was caused by accutane, then it's possble, however; hair loss is usually a temporary side effect, (and very rare), especially in women. I would say low Vitamin D and low Ferritin. I am assuming you are anemic? If so - anemia is a much more likely cause of your hair-loss than trace accutane remaining in your system.

I heard that Accutane can deplete vitamin D and cause low iron. And some people say Accutane can stay in our system for years but doctors say i should not worry about it. Im still very concerned tho.
