You won't have any side effects on that low of a dose. I take 20mg every other day and barely get dry lips.
I work for a dermatologist and we always put people on 20mg a day at most. Never more than that. And none of our patients get side effetcs. Just minor dry lips if anything.
But I will tell you this.... it will work for your acne. There is no need to go on higher doses of accutane. So your lucky your Dr gave u a low dose. Just give it time.
I'm 14 days deep in 60mg of accutane a day. I had mild but persistent acne to begin with, and I think I'm in the initial break out phase, but the only side affect I have is chapped lips! My skin even seems more oily than before. Is this normal? I almost feel like I might not be eating enough fat with the accutane. I'm 110 lbs, but Ive been eating a full avocado with 1 egg and 2 egg whites a day when I take the pills. Does that seen like enough fat? It says avocados have about 20-25 grams of fat in them. And for those of you who have mild acne, when did everything clear up for you? I have about 10 pimples scattered on my face right now. I'm hoping that clears up in a month..
I'm on 20mg a day and it's been a month or so. I'm experiencing stomach rumbling, bloat, and diarrhea. Is this normal? I stopped taking it because I was scared of ibs
No that's not normal, and yes you should stop immediately. A paper came out recently that looked at the mechanism of action for accutane and found that it may work by modulating the immune response to gram positive bacteria. The change in the immune response to certain gram positive bacteria is often permanent. Of course, these bacteria live in our intestines as well, so it's possible that by inducing a permanent change to our response to P. acnes (a gram positive bacteria), we could also be changing how we interact with our gut flora, permanently.
I would of course consult with your dermatologist on this issue. But for now, I would certainly stop. And be aware that your dermatologist might not know of this most recent bit of research.
I haven't had much bloat or diarrhea lately. It's been about a week since I stopped. I wonder if it was the meds or just something I ate. Not sure but I'm too scared to try it again even though it was the only thing to ever start clearing me up. I've also had blurred vision in my right eye when I look at neon lights or things in the distance. Not sure if it's from accutane but I've been trying eye gel and get no results.
