I have been on Accutane for 22 days now.

From about day 5, my skin started to dry out. The drying out gradually got worse in the sense that each morning I would awake to find more area on my face dried out. My lips were extremely dry and cracked and the areas that was the driest on my face was where my facial hair would grow, it was literally so dry it looked like I had white stubble. However, for the last three days I havent been dry at all.

I am concerned that maybe Accutane isnt doing its job anymore. I am on 30mg a day, and increasing to 60mg a day on the 12/03/14.

Is this normal? Im hoping that dryness is a side effect, and may or may not occur and is not a reflection on the success of the medication.

Thanks for reading

accutane is a very strong drug even at 30 mg so its definitely working, and if you are dry thats great since most people dont like that side effect but it doesnt change the fact that its not working

Same thing is happening to me and I'm at around the 22 day mark too. I'm on 20mg/day though.. My skin is getting a little oily again but I'm not getting those little oil clogs inside my pores anymore. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing.
