So I am a teen and I am currently suffering from acne and I was looking for advice. I have recently went to a doctor and she gave me a prescription for two types of acne meds. I have been taking 100MG of doxycycline Hyclate and trentinoin cream 0.1% once a day every other day because it dries up my skin, but im not sure if how to separate the acne from the scarring. I will upload photos of both sides of my face and hopefully you guys can give some advice. I am also looking for treatment options but I do have sensitive skin so please keep that in mind. I am open to prescription and organic remedy's.

Any help will be appreciated

Thank You

We'll I am using the doxycycline and have been using it for about 5 weeks and the cream I stop using after about 3 weeks as I did not really notice a difference and it dried my skin bad and my face was red like I had been sunburned. I was thinking about consulting a for dermatologist accutane. What do you think?

Maybe you shouldn't have stopped the trentinoin cream after only three weeks as you need to give most treatments a couple of months to see if they are really working. I think you should give it another try and apply an oil free non irritating moisturizer liberally to combat the redness. The dermatologist probably told you to expect some redness at first as your skin gets used to it. Make sure you use a gentle non irritating cleanser as well. Be patient even though it is hard.

I am not a doctor so these are just my opinions.

Good luck!

Give it 2-3 months before going on anything else. Retinoids really kick in at the 6 month mark, but you see benefits at 2-3 months, depending if you can apply it nightly ASAP.

If your redness and dryness is too unbearable, I'd suggest going back to the derm--maybe she can cut back on the dosage.

Please use sunscreen! Antibiotics and retinoids are potent sensitizers. Use SPF 30+ sunscreens daily. 1/4 of a teaspoon is sufficient for most face sizes. Also, use sunscreen on your arms and legs. Sun protective clothing is best for the chest and back.

Any advice on a good moisturizer? At first I used regular no oil cream but as the skin got dryer and dryer it burned my skin when I would put it on. Then I started using aloe Vera which worked amazing for a while but then hen I applied it it looked awful like dried glue. When I use the trentinoin it dried my chin and lips area so bad. So any advice on a good moisturizer? Something that won't burn?

Yes! Getting sunburned would easily make your skin red and peel more! You could get sun damaged to the point where you develop new scars or pigmentation problems!

Cetaphil and Eucerin both make oil free moisturizers for sensitive skin that also contain sunscreen. Not sure where you live but they are worth a try.

If you need more moisturizing you can try either jojoba oil or borage oil. They will not irritate your skin. You can either apply the oil directly on any are that is super dry or mix 1/2 oil with 1/2 moisturizer and apply it all over your face. Bothe theses oils worked well for my family.

Good luck.
