Hey guys! I am having an odd experience with accutane and I wanted to get some feedback:

I am 1 week in to my third month on accutane. I took 40 mg first two months and was bumped up to 60 mg last week.

I have moderate acne (please do not attack me for taking it): huge pores, little bumps, a couple of zits generally, every so often a big under the skin painful one. Just generally the quality and texture of my skin is not what I want it to be. I tried other products for 7 years and am doing accutane as a last resort.

Anyway, when I started taking accutane I feel like the quality of my skin improved almost immediately. I didnt experience the initial breakout that some people do. My skin was no where near what i wanted, but it was definitely a big improvement. I also didnt have any side effects (but people warned that those were coming in month 2).

During month two my skin stayed "better". It didnt get increasingly good (i dont think) but it definitely stayed better. Still no side effects.

Now, in the past week or two, I've been breaking out like crazy. I had one painful under the skin zit after another and the little bumps on my cheeks are reappearing. I don't have any idea why this is happening so I'm kind of wondering about that.

The thing I'm most confused about, however, is just the general experience I've had. For the last three months I have use my prescription cream (aczone) all over my face each night (and some mornings). Not only that but i have used NO MOISTURIZER. Not a single time. My lips have been slightly chapped a few times but really not a big deal.

I'm also dissapointed that accutane has not made my skin what I had hoped, and was wondering if any of you had had any experience with this. I have a friend who had terrible acne, took accutane, and now has the most beautiful skin I've ever seen. My acne is by no means terrible, so I am thankful for that, but I don't understand why I cant get my skin to smooth/where I want it to be.
