My Derm recently Prescribed me Tretinoin Cream 0.05%. She also prescribed me Doxycycline for the next 3 months. She told me to continue using my Acanya in the morning, and using my Maracuja oil. I was just wondering if anyone could me advice on how to use the tretinoin? And wouldn't mind hearing your stories with using this product (:

Use a pea sized amount and spread a thin layer across the areas youre breaking out. Itll probably get worse before it gets better but people usually see grwat improvement around the 12 week mark. Good luck! You can also read product reviews for it by clicking the tap at the top.

I've been on it for a few months (0.1%). I can certainly say that it gets worse before it gets better. I saw no improvement, not even a little, until 2 months in. The key is to stick with it.

It might cause peeling and redness, so you can apply it over moisturizer, or mix a moisturizer + tretinoin in your hands before applying the mix to your face. These methods do not reduce overall efficacy, but do reduce redness and peeling. If it's still too much, you can try applying less often. I went from once a day to once every other day (as of a few days ago) and my skin has finally returned to a normal color (instead of being slightly red all the time), and peeling is much reduced.

Acancya, doxy, and tretinoin seems like overkill, but I know nothing about the state of your acne. If irritation is too much, I would take out the acanya first. I would also try to get off doxycycline as soon as possible. I was on it 3 different times and it did me no favors in the long run. It destroys your microbiota.

I agree about mixing it with a moisturizer, this totally helped me out. Also (I'm sure you're already aware, but I wasn't for the first little bit on Retin A) it is super light sensitive so try to put in on right before bed, and stay out of the light as best as you can. For me there were nights when I would put it on with my super bright mirror, go out and watch TV with the lights on and then go to bed, and the lotion was basically worthless. It didn't do anything, which I am assuming was from the excessive light I exposed to it. I love using it for spots with scarring, but it was pretty tough for me to use on active acne because it's pretty strong. As others suggested it takes a lot of patience to use. Best of Luck! It's really great stuff!

I used Atralin (tretinoin), it was great for my closed comedones and Papular acne, but it did nothing for my cysts, unfortunately :( I was also using it with acanya, but the combination was very irritating on my skin. I saw the most improvement when I stopped the acanya and used atralin and aczone as my only topicals.
