I've been on 5 months on accutane and seen no improvement at all.
Dosages have been
month 1:10mg
month 2: 20mg
Month 3:20mg
Month 4: 30 mg
Month 5: 40 mg
All these increases have been dermatologist approved. The question is: should i increase the dose to 60 mg/day. I'm sick of waiting for results. If i increase the dosage, will results come faster for me.

Dosage is good enough. Talk to your derm if you need it for a few more months provided that you don't have any side effects. Also look into changing your diet.
Hey, I am already supposed to be on it for a year so i don't need to talk to my derm about that. And i really look after my diet really well, no dairy or sweets at all.
Sadly it doesn't work for everyone, almost everyone, but not everyone (yeah me to be in the not everyone category)- but sounds like you've had no side effects?
If you have had no side effects then bump it up to 50 or 60 mg a day....you seem to be tolerating it well, so yes bump it up to 60, providing your doctor agrees.

sorry to hear it didn't work for you can i ask how long you were on accutane, dose and your weight?
Hmmmm. Well it seems to me like you started at a pretty low dose. I am on my second course, and both times have done 40 mg the whole time, which you are just starting this month, yes? A year is a long time given how it is usually prescribed, but maybe your derm believes in a slower approach? In all honesty, I wouldn't worry since you are just getting to the dose now that most people use the whole time.
I'd say keep with the plan, and don't stress out about results until you have done a few months at a higher dose. Cumulative dose is generally what matters, and yours is still not that high with your gradual increase regimen.
See - I have done 38 days at 40 mg, that's a total of 1520. I am also still not at the 'results' place.
You have done 30 at 10 (300), plus 30 at 20 (600), plus 30 at 30 (900), plus 30 at 40 (1200), which adds up to 4000.
I will be at 4000 by day 100, which is just a little over 3 months into my course. Many people do not start seeing results on a regimen like mine until month 4 or 5, so I don't think it's that shocking that you are still not there yet.
Maybe it helps to look at it that way?

Hey Kim, thanks alot for taking the time to reply to my message. I can totally see where you're coming from. This definitely is a little bit more reassuring. Can i ask how much u weigh?
140-ish? Not sure on the kilos as it is late and I am not in a math mood, lol.
p.s. I'm 5'10". Just seems weird to tell someone my weight without the height disclaimer.
ah okay. i self upped my dose from 40mg to 60 mg. i felt 40 mg wasnt doing anything like all the doses previously.. and there is a month left till i see the dr. fingers crossed this clears up eventually.. i swear im going to be in that small 10% of people that accutane doesnt work for. anyways good luck on your accutane journey!

I weigh about 120 lbs. 40 first month. 60 second month when side effects started. Back to 40 for a month side effects worsened. Cut to 20 mg for two months with high doses of prednisone then probably 30 a month for the last two Months. Then just gave up from there. Hey I'm the outlier it works for most. Relax up the dose a bit and odds are you will see great results

ok cheers for that. I decided just to raise it to 50mg a month. No side effects experienced yet. Just praying and hoping accutane will work soon
Hi again, i replied in your other thread before.
I just had a huge cyst returned after 4 months in which is really depressing.
I am still breaking out constantly but i realized most of these are from closed comedones.
Do u suffer from closed comedones? If you are , might be accutane trying to push them out.

Hey, i dont think i have any closed comedones. Mine are just random inflamed white heads and cysts and blackheads. i have heaps of everything at the moment haha. how long u been on tane for? and what dose?
This is my 4th month.
10 mg , 20mg, 30mg for each month.
But i drop to 20mg for my 4th month as my eczema became worse and my derm drop my dosage.
ah okay. your dosage is lower than mine. I thought mine was way too long. Are u seeing progress in ur skin? how much do u weigh?
78kg.
I no longer feel oily on my face, as for my acne i cant really tell but i believe is getting better as the closed comedones are getting purge out.
The only thing is the returning cyst which kinda make me disappointed with my progress.
ah okay. im 78kgs exactly too! haha. how long is your course going to go for?
