Skin Care After Accutane?

Hi all :)

I finished my 5 1/2 month course of Accutane 3 days ago. I had great results (see log for photos) but I wasn't given anything to keep my skin under control now I've finished taking those pills.

I've read about other people who have taken Roaccutane on the NHS and not been given/told what they should be using on their face now and their acne has returned.

I'm a bit paranoid about the acne and the oily skin coming back so what can I do/use on my face to keep my skin clear?

What is everyone else using on their faces post-'tane?

Thanks :)

Congrats on finishing Accutane. I'm not gonna use anything when I finish my course. Only supplements and washing my face daily.

Thanks for your response, it's comforting to know that you're not going to use anything on your face too :)

I feel conflicted on this issue. On my first two courses i let my face be and both times i broke out horribly after 2 years. The third course i used and continue to use a topical and my acne for the most part is controlled (on my third course i never fully cleared up like i did previously so....) I would suggest at least talking with your derm to see if you can get a mild retinoid like differen to hel keep your pores clear just in case acne is in your genetic makeup long term which means when the effects of accutane wears off you could very well find yourself back at square 1.

I don't get why she should put on a (potentially harmful) topical treatment, before she starts breaking out again..

All treatments whether topical or oral are dangerous. I just stated my experience with accutane and as a MULTI user, i was just providing my experiences with leavings things alone AND using products after treatment. The original poster at the end of the day will have to make her own decision.

Bad advice is still bad advice..
