Retin-A: My Skin Is Way Too Oily!

Background story: I've been using retin-a .01% for a little less than a month. I used to use benzoyl peroxide and clindamycin for years. My acne was under control for a while, but I had a huge breakout over the summer. Then I took Bactrim (an oral antibiotic) and it got under control, but I developed an allergy to it and had to stop. My doctor decided to give me retin-a instead. My acne was mostly under control so I didn't need a very high concentration of it. I've always had the oiliest skin of anyone I know, to the extent that there is no foundation on earth that can hold up for more than a couple hours.

However, my skin is now so oily that I've noticed people giving me weird looks. I think tomorrow I'll have to take a picture and post it on here because it's INSANE. I have to wear makeup to cover my acne marks but it literally melts off my skin. It always looks like I just smeared my face with olive oil!

Does anyone have any experience with this? Does it go away eventually? I've been doing all the "right" things (ex. using a mild cleanser, moisturizing well, staying hydrated, etc.)

I used tretinoin cream .025 for only a week and my face became soooo oily. I stopped using it like 6 weeks ago n I am still oily as hell. Even switched to a diff derm who gave me acanya which did nothing for the oil problem n now he wants me to try tazorac n I am terrified to try it cuz ive seen a lot of posts that say taz makes them more oily!!! I can't stand all this damn oil!

Have you considered Zinc for acne? I've read that it greatly reduces the amount of oil on your face when you're on it, and it also gets rid of acne and helps heal the skin. Look up "Zinc for acne" on Google.

Started taking zinc a while ago and it didn't really change anything. Maybe it helps some, but not all....
