I am only 16 and have suffered with acne for a couple of years now. Recently my acne has gotten severe, so I talked my mom into letting me see a dermatologist. He prescribed me with 75 MG of Minocycline and a topical cream called Trentinoin (0.05%). Is this enough? I think I need something stronger (possibly Accutane). Any advice?
Try the topicals for about 6 months and if your still not where you want to be then talk to your doctor about Accutane. Theyre more then likely not going to giive it to you unless you try other treatments first.
If you aren't scarring, I agree with CWR24.
Try the oral antibiotics and topical retinoid consistently for 6 months and see how they go. It will be very important to use both simultaneously to maximise their effectiveness.
Good luck
Hello.if that dose helps but not enough have dr. bump up dose abit and take each dose of minocycline directly with 400 mg of ibuprofen usually always 2 pills.this will work as well as accutane without all the possible side effects.be careful with these tetracycline antibiotics of your iron intake.etc.. near dose taken can ruin absorption and for some photosensitivity a big problem with these type of antibiotics
