I started my 2nd month on Monday, and before that I had to take a 3 week break (technically 2nd month was supposed to start on July 4-5) because of elevated liver enzymes.
I started May 30th and I am around 130 lbs (59ish kg) and I'm taking 40mg a day. I am 19 years old.
I was hoping to have my skin clear up before the start of the school year (Aug 17) but I guess that won't happen. Oh well.
Also, my derm wants to potentially double my dosage to 80 mg a day if my liver can take it.
Accutane will almost certainly clear you, so the important questions become (1) how long will it take and (2) will you relapse after Accutane? I've answered the 2nd question elsewhere.
Eighty-five percent of patients who receive a dose of 0.51.0 mg/kg/day are virtually clear of their acne by 16 weeks. Thirteen per cent require 5 or 6 months to clear, and 3% require a longer course. Less than 1% of patients may need up to 12 months of continuous therapy.
