Hey everyone.

I'm new to the site and I am noticing that the majority of people are saying that they started on 20mg per day. My derm started me on 60mg per day!! I'm 5'7" 140lbs. I did not think 60mg was a lot when she handed me the script but now that I'm 12 days in and my face feels like its burning/peeling off...I've come to conclude that it is way too much to start with. Should I cut it down to 30mg? Any suggestions for the burning/peeling? I was using a moisturizer for a few days but I came to realize it made my skin peel more and I think it made me break out on my chin.

HELP! Haha

I started at 70 a day. I was arounf 165 LB. Some people start even higher so no its not to high if your body can handle it.

Yeah I've seen people smaller than you starting at 80 so it all depends on what the dr wants to do. Unless the side effects get too much to bear, just stick with it until your next appt and talk to the dr about it.

My derm says that the general rule for a starting dose is around 0.5mg per kg. 140lb = 63.5kg so following this rule you should have started at around 30 mg per day.

You have to trust that your derm knows what he/she's doing. Also, listen to your body and contact your derm immediately if something's not right. Take faith in the fact that you're not the only person who started on such a high dosage but just be careful :)

You are about 63 kg. Anything from 0.5mg/kg/day-1.0mg/kg/day is a standard daily dose, which for you is about 30mg/day-60mg/day. Therefore you are within the normal daily dose recommendations, but if the side effects are currently intolerable then you can lower the daily dose (although they should subside with time).

Good luck

Thanks for the help! I noticed today that my face isn't as red as it was and the dryness isn't quite as bad as it has been. Hoping it continues to get better! I'm half way through my first month....at least 4.5 months to go! Hahaha I'm hoping it will be worth it in the end.
