I'm on day two using epiduo. I follow the instructions and only use a pea size on my acne affected areas after my nightly shower (mostly on my chin area). I wait 10-15mins and lightly apply cetaphil moisteriser all over my face otherwise my face gets really tight and dry and even more prone to breakouts. I'm yet to experience what everyone mentions....dry flaky red stinging skin. I cleanse my skin morning and night with Exposed cleanser (0.5% salicylic acid), and moisterise after with cetaphil. I'm also on minomycin antibiotics twice a day and birth control pill yaz. My question to users, how quickly did epiduo work for you. That is, when did you see dramatic clear results from starting the product? My wedding is in two months and I'm kicking myself that I didn't go to the dermatologist earlier!!! I'm praying epiduo works for me. My large cystic bumps have shrunk a little after two days, still there and bumpy, but at least they are shrinking!
Epiduo works pretty well for me. I've been using it for 2 years now. I have hormonal breakouts so I tend to get zits around that time of the month no matter what but I feel like Epiduo helps ward other zits and clogged pores away, and it also helps my skin look overall healthier. It took my skin a month or two to get used to it and stop being so dry, but once it did, I cleared up from a really bad breakout very nicely. I say give the Epiduo a month.
I think mine is moderate acne. I have active pimples around my chin area, hormonal acne the cysts are not as painful or as enlarged on my 3rd day of my epiduo experience (it's only been 2 nightly applications so far). I can see shrinkage in the cysts. just hoping the bumps smooth out and I don't form too much of a purge of new acne. My derm said to apply it on my acne affected areas so I don't flare up in other areas as I'm clear everywhere else. Around my chin and mouth is where it's at! I'm yet to experience the peeling red sore and irritated skin everyone talks about??? Good luck everyone, I really hope this treatment works as I don't want roaccutane to be my only hope of clearing these lumps and bumps....
For me, by month two I was not getting any more pimples and my skin was smooth. I was using Epiduo at night and taking Doxycycline twice a day.
Hopefully by month two your skin will be smooth as well. But my derm told me Epiduo is one of the best topicals on the market for acne, since it's a combination of BP + adapalene, which is a topical antibiotic. I'd say stick with it. Maybe you could add in an oral antibiotic - though they stop working after a few months, they can bring dramatic clearing during the few months that they work.
hey, i've been on the canadian version of epiduo for about a month now and i'm already seeing improvement ie.) smoother skin and way less bumps. week three was the worst for me. for the first bit i didn't get dry skin, and then it all sort of hit, but now that my forehead is clearing up the skin isn't so dry and tight. good luck
