Hi everyone, i've been struggling with acne for 5 years taking antibiotics on and off for years on end. As soon as i get off the antibiotics the acne returns. It is moderate and cystic and scarring.

For the last three months, i've been on doxy, clindatech and for the last 2 months i've been on diane35

My acne is now under control. Especially with the diane35.

I just went to a dermatologist who perscribed accutane. He is going to put me on 20mg for 9 months. I was resolved to take it, but now i'm having second thoughts! Especially since i'm getting no new cysts (though i still get black heads)

DO you think it's a good idea to just stay on the pill till i'm 40 (I'm currently 26)? Or should i go on accutane and try to cure this thing risking scarring from an initial outbreak and or horrible side effects? What would you do?

When i was 14 I had severe acne and my doctor put me on the pill, Diane.. I used the pill for 10 years, and quit last year.. Last christmas my acne started coming back, after just having a couple of breakouts for almost seven years.. (So the pill really did work, but i wish i knew about accutane back then).. Since we want kids someday, starting on the pill again is not an option.. I've tried all kinds of treatment since then, but my dermatologist said accutane is the only thing that would help, so here I am, on day 7 of accutane (lip balm is my new best friend)..

The past year I've gotten so many new scars, so it wont make any difference if I get a couple more during this shit..

Because of all the side effects of accutane, and if you're not in desire of kids you should use the pill.. I know I'd still be on it..
