So, I started taking isotretinoin claravis for adult acne about 5 months ago. Extremely happy with the results. Last week I had a medical check, everything seemed to be in order, so my doctor took me off the drug.
The thing is i was hearing that minimum cumulative dose is 120mg/kg of body weight, which in my case is about 7800 mg and i have taken 6600 mg so far. Does anyone have an opinion on the matter? Should i push for another prescription or get a second opinion? Is there a higher possibility of a relapse?
Thanks in advance!
I think it might be a bit different with adults. I would not sweat it and see how it goes. I would also want to take the minimum amount of Accutane I needed to solve my issues (instead of some predetermined amount). I am hoping I get taken off a bit early as well. I have heard from a people that it is not that common with the older patients. Only time will tell!
All right, thanks and best of luck. I guess ill have to wait and see how it goes. At what stage of treatment are you?
One more thing though. I still have about 30 pills left. According to my doctor, i is not a good idea to abruptly stop taking isotretinoin, so should i gradually reduce my daily dose from 60mg to say 20-30mg? I was adviced to continue with 60 till i run out, but at the same time i was told to see the doctor if i get ant flare ups (which is apparently quite possible) after i finish my course.
The consultation is about 80+euros ( i had 3 so far + 2 blood tests, thats another 65x2), so i was wondering about that.
