Dairy And Minocycline?

I've heard that you shouldn't drink dairy around when you take an antibiotic because it lessens the effect, but I researched it and found that if you take an antibiotic with food the effects will only just be delayed an hour or so.

Yesterday, I tried doing what the instructions said and I took an antibiotic and didn't eat for an hour, but it kind of made me lose my appetite and I didn't end up eating for 6 hours except for some tea. But, my skin also looks and feels a lot better.

Is the "looks and feels better" due to the minocycline kicking in or is it not eating and following the directions?

Dairy? are you sure you're not thinking of orange juice. I've never heard of milk or dairy off setting an antibiotic before.

The pamphlet thing that came with the prescription says that dairy may lessen the effect. I've never heard of orange juice lessening an antibiotic...

darkheart, I see where you were coming from with your post. There are so many ridiculous claims about diet and acne, diet and antibiotics, diet and topicals that I don't blame you for assuming it was bogus. This is true, though. I'm on mino (Solodyn) and the brochure does say this.

Oh okay. I haven't taken antibiotis for acne since I was 12-13 so I honestly can't remember.
