Hi, I'm 18 years old and recently my acne came back after a few months of being clear. Prior to this, I was prescribed Accutane twice when I was about 15 and 16. Both times, my skin would be perfectly clear for a few months before my acne resurfaced.
So now, although it hasn't come back as bad as it was the last time, I'm thinking of visiting the doctor again for another prescription. I just wanted to ask if anyone has had a similar experience and if there if anything I can do to prevent my acne from returning?
Thanks
When I had bad, severe acne, I would scoff at commercials highlighting "spot erasers" because I would say, "Well, should I just put this on my whole face?!" When I went off Accutane, I was scared of getting acne again.
It took some work, but I finally learned NOT to freak out when I get a pimple or two. I think there's an underlying anxiety that it will come back, but my dermatologist told me that my pores will open up - not ever to the level they were at - and I'll get normal breakouts every now and again.
If it's not as bad, go for a more conservative option, like antibiotics. Restarting Accutane is a long process and it's a lot cheaper to go a different route if it's not severe.
