I started taking accutane yesterday. I know CeraVe and Cetaphil are commonly recommended to use while on accutane but they have broken me out in the past, does anyone have other less cloggy recommendtations for moisturizer while on accutane?

Thanks so much!

Here's a little coincidence for you- I started taking Accutane yesterday too! We're Accutane buddies! ;)

My derm recommended that I wear a moisturising sun cream rather than just a moisturiser (since your skin will get more sensitive to the sun whilst on Accutane). She recommended suncreams from Sunsense because they are not oil based so they're not greasy and they won't clog pores.

This morning I ordered SunSense Daily Face SPF50+ Invisible Tint Finish Sunscreen for everyday use and Sunsense Sun Sensitive SPF50+ Sensitive Sunscreen for when I go to hot places (or for some miracle we get a sunny day here in the UK ;) ). I don't know where you live, but there were quite difficult to find here so I brought them from Amazon (this was also the cheapest place).

I'll let you know how I get on with these products once they arrive. I hope this helps :)

Awesome! I live in Minnesota, very cool that we are on the same time line!

What do you plan to use at night when you don't need sun protection?

This is so cool, we can do this together! ;)

I don't really go out at night in the dark because if it's dark here, it's cold. I use Emu Oil on my face to help my post inflammation hyperpigmentation (it's great stuff for PIH) and that moisturises your skin too (without blocking pores, so it says, although it's never made me break out) so I guess I'll just use that. The only thing is that it feels really greasy on your skin so it may not be for you.

Other than that I'm not really sure. Please let me know if you find anything good :) Are you keeping an Accutane log?

right now I am using Boots Expert Sensitive cleanser, SkinMD lotion, EltaMD UV Clear spf. Aquaphor for lips and if I have any really dry spots. Hope it works well I obviously havn't had a lot of dryness or change yet.

I don't plan on keeping a log, hadn't really thought about it, it's a good idea smile.png

I am currently on Accutane and have been using shea butter at night. There were some times in the beginning when I needed to use it during the day as well due to the excessive dryness. I really like it but it is very thick, you may only need a little bit. I haven't had any issues with breakouts while using it either. I think it has helped fade some of my hyperpigmentation as well. Good luck to you!
