Hi to all,
First off I will give a little history of my skin..
I am 26 years old, went through my teenage years with only one or two pimples around "that time of the month" no biggy, no acne, and have been complimented many times on how good my skin/complexion was. Then I noticed in the fall of 2010 that the horomone pimples that came out around my chin/mouth seemed to linger longer than normal, and when I thought it was going away, a new one would appear. Then as time went on I would get another on my chin, and another. But clear everywhere else. Then this past year I've had some stress in my life and it became worse and worse, and spread all around my mouth/chin, and finally the last couple months on my forehead as well. I've tried Proactiv which was too harsh for me, Neutrogena products that did nothing, Burt's Bees, Effaclar, straight up 5% BP which was WAY too strong, etc etc. I've become very self conscious, not wanting to go out, piling on make up to go to work which can't be good for it..(I used to wear NO foundation)
Finally I booked an appointment with my family doctor and was almost in tears when I went there and just told him I'm very frustrated. He prescriped Tactuo and 100mg of Doxycycline Hyclate once a day. He also told me to take probiotics while on the antibiotic, as it could cause dierrhea, and I've had no problems in that department as some have. It was May 3rd when I started this treatment, and I've stuck to it EVERY night, although the Tactuo has been VERY drying and my face is peeling like a snake and itchy. I've been pretty much googling every day on reviews of Tactuo and see that this is normal, but people mostly comment on the dry, peeling and redness. But I'm wondering if people have also been getting itchy skin from this? Is this a normal side effect or something more serious? I don't want to stop, I see it's been working, I'm kind of at a point now where I'm breaking out a lot more but they go away quicker (IB I guess?), but I'm scared that maybe I'm allergic to the BP, or is it going to take a little longer for my skin to adjust to it?
I first was washing my face with Cetaphil, Oily/acne prone cleanser, and my face would BURN BURN BURN after cleansing and applying Tactuo, but then I read somewhere to switch to Cetaphil Gentle sensitive wash, and this has stopped the burning dramtically, but I still experience itchiness.
Anyone else taking this conbination of products? Side effects? Comments?
Thank you.
Ashley
Im on Epiduo and a antibiotic. I was using regular Cetaphil wash and moisturizer and it was irritating my skin. I recently switched to Cerave wash and moisturizer and it has gotten a lot better. I also mix a bit of the Cerave moisturizer into the epiduo when i put it on.
I'm currently taking 200mg doxycline and epiduo (US version Tactuo). I'm also on birth control.
I wash my face with CeraVe moisturizing face cleaner and use the CeraVe lotion. Wash & moisturize in the morning, wash & epiduo at night. At first, it burned like hell, but after about 2 weeks, the burning subsided and my face cleared up some. It's been about 5 weeks and my face is starting to break out again. And I'm having some major bouts with vertigo. I've read a few thing that say the doxycline can cause that.
Haven't been on in a while..how is the vertigo? Are you still taking Doxycycline? My Doctor only prescribed me for 30 days, I don't think I will continue with it after this is gone, I will just stick to the Tactuo/Epiduo. The itchiness has gone away for the most part. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks, and I'm over the whole red/peeling stage now, still getting pimples, but they go away much quicker. It's that time of the month now, and I'm getting cysts as I normally do around now, but they are no where near as painful as they used to be, so something's working!
