Hey guys

I'm going to be seeing the dermatologist on wednesday to put me on accutane.

I was just wondering what processes I'll have to go through once I have seen him.

I know I require a blood test, how long after you guys did the blood test did it take to get the results and start treatment?

Any tips for when i'm on it?

I have read through a lot of blogs so I know the usual, chapped lips, sore joints, dry skin etc.......

Thanks for your help

seeing as your name is aussieshaun, i presume you are male, as i am, and in that case i believe you can begin the same day you get your blood test. ( or at least i did.)

It only takes females longer because they have to do a pregnancy check and fill out some forms or something known as ipledge.

Im on day 10 of roaccutane, 20mg a day.

Advice, take a low dose for a longer period of time, rather than a high dose for a shorter period of time. This reduces the intensity of side effects and the initial breakout which may lead to further scarring. Its also proven to be just as, or even more effective than a higher dose.

other than that, maybe invest in eye drops. I read about all the side effects, and saw eye drops and just kind of shrugged it off, but my eyes have become noticeably drier since beginning and it would be a wise investment.

Also i got some strong joint pains the first day, and another day when i had a big night prior, so just be ready for that.

Its really bearable though so don't fear it too much. The worst thing i did was contemplate about the pills for 6 months before taking them, and if i had taken accutane the day i got it, i would have prevented some scarring.

so just pop the pill, sit back, and enjoy the ride to good skin.

Thanks for your help mate.

Much appreciated.

Good luck with your course, i'm looking forward to finally getting rid of this problem that i've had for 12 years.

amen to that dude. i just got sick and tired of thinking to myself every damn day "its gonna get better" and seeing no improvements. I hope accutane also helps for scarring.
