Hi Guys !I never really got a lot of whiteheads before starting my accutane. I am on 60mg a day and since i started 2 weeks ago i have seen a huge increase in the number of whiteheads im getting. I am seeing them pop up throughout the day all over my face. They are reasonabely small and mostly appear in the same places (chin and in the sides of my nose) but even today some appeared on my LIPS of all places.Literally i grow a few in the afternoon that were not there in the morning !! What's going on !!!

It means that Accutane is working. At first, it's usual that most users (around a 90% of them) experience an initial breakout. The reason why the whiteheads pop so easily is because of the thinning of your skin while on accutane. Don't be alarmed; it's normal.

Your skin is more sensitive now so you want to avoid intentionally popping/picking at them as they can be more likely to scar. Don't worry about the ones that accidently break/fall off, I don't think there's anything you can do about that. I accidently scratched a scab off a couple of weeks ago and my skin was really discolored for a few days but it's almost completely back to normal now. From what I understand (someone please correct me if I'm wrong!), Accutane speeds up the proliferation of skin cells so you're constantly getting rid of old skin and developing new skin so that's why you're seeing changes so quickly. I'm in the same boat, my skin can look different at different times of the day. Hang in there!
