So I've been on Diane 35 (the generic version of it) for 6 months and for awhile my face was doing really well, but its slowly becoming worse again :( I was wondering if I should give up on diane 35 and go to accutane. I don't get cysts or anything, I have mild to moderate acne thats extremely stubborn. what do you think?

Personally I think accutance should be a last resort. I was thinking of going on it if ever Dan's regimen didn't work for me.

I'm kind of in the same boat as you, I started taking Diane 35 and it did clear my acne, but after 10 months, it slowly came back. I started spot treating with Tretinoin cream and that really helped but there are times when I get so many cysts that I just wanted a better fix than tretinoin.

I started Dan Kern's regimen around the end of January of this year and aside from 2 spots I got because of my cycle, I am practically clear. :)

Really up to you though. I just preferred not going through the expense and side effects of accutane.

i think the decision to take accutane is up to you but you have to know about the side effects. if you decide to take it, take a low dose, as low as you can. if you have the nasty under the skin cysts, it will help you but its the absolute resort when everything has failed you.

accutane is for severe acne btw, like, google severe acne. if you look like that, which i doubt, then take it. if not, then don't even bother. Its not intended for mild/moderate acne but like i said, only you know your case and how much it affects you and the decision is yours to take. My doc even said its absolute last resort and she hats giving it cuz she knows the side effects.

It's definitely a personal risk assessment.

Nobody can make the decision for you because nobody can know the severity of your acne and how it impacts your life but you.

Likewise, nobody can know how your body will react to it (be it wonderfully, or terribly).

It can also be a costly decision, so bear that in mind.
