So this will be my second course on Accutane and I'm at college right now. I've had the two negative pregnancy tests and I'm filling out the iPledge survey thing when it is asking about birth control. Last time I was on it, I selected abstinent because well I wasn't having sex at that point in my life. But now I kind of am (with a condom every time and everything but I'm not on any kind of "Primary" birth control. When I went in to my dermatologist a month ago he didn't mention birth control at all and when I went in to get my second pregnancy test, the nurse just assumed that I was on it. If I went on birth control now, it's not going to be totally effective for another month and I'd have to put this off another month. Should I just choose abstinence on the form? Will changing forms of birth control in the middle affect my ability to continue to be prescribed Accutane?

So I switched birth controls in my second month of accutane, and my derm scared the crap out of me asking what date I switched, because that is the most important part and ipledge will lock you out if they think you haven't been protected for any time. Luckily I chose the right date, because Ipledge accepted it and I was able to continue (phew!). Looking back on it, I just wouldn't have told them anything changed, because ipledge is so stupid. I would just continue with whatever you've been saying, and if you want to go on birth control just go on it and be super careful in the meantime or abstain for a month.
