Hi,

I'm an 18 year old male whos been prescribed 80mg of accutane per day. Today is my fourth day, however I have been up all night with a bad cough and a headache, I feel constantly cold, I can sit next to the radiator and still wont feel warm, I was wondering if this was down to accutane or maybe I just have the flu.

Any Advice would be appreciated :)

Sounds like the flu. You can always give your derm a call and ask them.

How is your skin doing so far? I will be starting on Thursday or Friday on 80mg this week.

Ive began to break out on my face today, so i think this could be part of the initial breakout process, even though this is only day five, i've seen a significant difference to my shoulders and collar bone area. I seem to keep having one recurring side effect which is like a brain smog, it just feels like you cant concentrate or focus, but it is bearable. I'll keep you posted with any changes

Last time I was on Accutane I was on 70mg. That was bearable so Im hoping 80s not to much different.

Hey. I'm the same age as you, male as well and I've started on a 30mg dose (upped to 60mg after 3 weeks) but experiencing the same side-effects at practically the same timing as you. Initial break out and flu-like symptoms. I think it might be genuine flu because my armpits/glands in armpits get really sore/swollen in the evening (but coincidentally soon after I take the accutane..?)

I was also taking a strong multi-vitamin which has vitamin A in and didn't realise, so I stopped today...

I am now 11 days in and still have my initial break out although it has got a LOT better already in a matter of days. One evening I got over 20 new whiteheads on my chin, now there are about 10 active ones around my mouth but most of the original 20 are gone. I was doing the acne.org regimen for over 2 years before accutane and that had me mostly clear on my face (but not quite) so the initial break out was a bit of a shock but I'm coping fine.

Just wondering seeing as you started almost a month before me how you're doing at this point and what your initial break out is/was like?

My initial breakout was whackkkkk, and to be honest, still kinda is, i dont get half as much of a breakout as i used to, but the ones that i do have take sooooo long to heal, and more often than not they just reform before their even healed, which sucks, now im on day 47, my skin feels slighty better but im still breaking out! like wtf hahaha, was hoping I'd see at least some significant improvement by now! how is yours going?
