I have my monthly dermatologist appointment this Thursday the 20th, to get my re-fill of Accutane. The weather prediction says we may have a big snow storm that day.
What happens if there really is a snow storm on Thursday, and I can't get to the dermatologist because of the snow storm?
Thursday will be exactly 30 days from my previous appointment.
How many days leeway do I have to get to the dermatologist afterwards, if I can't get there on Thursday? Will the I-Pledge system at some point lock me out, forcing me to re-register?
Should the dermatologist office go out of their way to get me in quickly?
I have tried to call the dermatologist's office today and re-schedule. They have no openings this week, except Thursday. They said I could try again tomorrow to see if anyone canceled.
thank you for any help. This has me really worried, as it's my second to last Accutane re-fill.
I think it will be okay. My dermatologist's nurse/aide actually told me to schedule 30 to 40 days from my first appointment which means I've gotta go awhile without meds. I'm going at exactly 30 days and have to wait to get a refill til my blood results come back, which I'm sure you will have to do too... I will be out the day I go in and it is right before New Years Eve so I'm guessing I'm gonna have to go about 5 days without meds. I was worried but called the doc and she said it was fine since it stays in your system for awhile. I also asked on here and everyone said it was fine and I looked online and found some one who went a week a few times and 2 weeks on their final refill! The 7 day window shouldn't start counting down til after the derm calls the prescription in to your pharmacy. Doc told me in the future we could bump it up a few days. She told me appointments need to be exactly 25 days from the last one, so in scheduling your next one try to go in a little earlier in case you have something come up again.
Hey guys,
I have done the accutane re-fill appointments many times before, so I know how the doctor visits work. My question is more about the I-Pledge system.
The window you guys are talking about is picking up the prescription. For women I think it's 7 days, and for men it's 30 days. I'm male so for me it's 30 days. I know it used to be 7 days for men and women, but I-Pledge relaxed that for men to 30 days. And that starts from the day when the doctor sends in the prescription, not a month after.. Not sure why your doctor told you that the window starts after 30 days from when they call in the prescription. 30 days is the window (for men).
That is good advice about scheduling for exactly 25 days. I hadn't heard of that. The dermatologist practice I go to is busy, and they just let me re-schedule whenever, so I always have to check the timing myself. I try to do it every 30 days exactly. If I'm not careful I can schedule it for more than 30 days after the first appointment. I've done that before and had to call back to reschedule. That is the one annoying thing, that the doctor or nuse doesn't reschedule me.
As for blood work, I dont know why you have to wait for that before getting your prescription. I always get my blood drawn at the dermatologist by the nurse and they send it to Quest that day. Later they call me and tell me what the results were. But I always pick up the prescription the same day I see the dermatologist, days before the blood test results come back.
Anyway....back to my main question. If you miss your 30 day doctor appointment, how long before the I-Pledge system says there is a problem? Will it make you start over from the beginning, in terms of re-registering and getting a new I-Pledge card? Anyone ever heard of this happening? I am guessing there has to be a length of time after which I-Pledge "kicks you out" ...so to speak.
thank you for your feedback.
