I have been using Retin A combined with Obagi blender for about 2 months now, and while I think it is helping somewhat with acne, I have seen no improvement in my redmarks! I'm wondering if what I am using along with the Retin A, is causing it to be ineffective? I wash with 10% Sulfur soap, then I wait about 10 minutes, apply the Retin A and blender, and then I wait about an hour and apply Proactive Refining Sulfur mask to dry up the current pimples. Am I doing something wrong? Any help appreciated!
My understanding is that it would be highly irritating to use both Retin-A and Sulfur, but if you aren't having that reaction, maybe you just need to wait a little longer to see results. From what I read on these boards it can take months to see the full effects of Retin-A.
Also, I read that the fewer products you use alongside Retin-A the better. I don't really understand the need for the blender. The instructions for Retin-A say to apply it by itself, not to mix it with other products. When you're outside in the sun you'll definitely need a sunscreen though.
I'm new to Retin-A, so hopefully more experienced users will weigh in.
So maybe the blender is making it ineffective? My derm told me to mix them.
Does your derm know that you are also using the sulfur products? What strength Retin-A are you using?
No my derm doesnt know and I am using. 05% retin a. I stopped using sulfur and blender and am just using retin a at night and only washing with water (I dont wear makeup) and my skin is definitely improving!
