Persistent Moderate Acne After Accutane...

I finished acctuane 6 months ago and I keep getting persistent acne. (like 2-3 pustules on each side of my cheek near my ear, all the time, no matter what i do -- gentle facewash and benzoyl peroxide seems useless and just dries and does nothing). I also got a cyst on my chin about a week ago.. it was quite distressing. Luckily, it was short lived -- only about a week, but there is still discoloration. I do not scar nearly as bad as I did on Accutane.

Really, I guess I'm asking, is would my doctor be okay with another round of Accutane? And since it's moderate (barely) and not severe this time, do you think the results would be better? I really don't want to go up to as high as a dose (80mg/day), I'd rather stay around 40mg or 60mg/day tops. The sides effects are brutal but my skin doesn't respond well to topicals.

Currently, I have possibly 2 upcoming cysts/pustules on my left cheek near my hair and a few small bumps, and then the same on my right but about 3 pustules. And then I always have little pimples no matter what. Sure, it's not terrible, and I don't look like "the kid with acne," but it is bothering me.

My mother called (I'm 16) and she said that I could possibly have an appointment next week. Is it ridiculous to do another round of accutane or could it possibly be more effective the second time? Anyone have any experiences like mine and decided to do another course?? Thanks!

Sometimes topicals work much better after accutane. Since you are still in the teenaged phase and your hormones are raging, a second course would probably be useless. When you see your derm, as about a retinoid to help clear your pores. Also, you may want to look into supplements and dietary changes as that has worked for many people.

What you are experiencing happens a lot for people your age

Good Luck
