I have not gotten any good results from it.
The whiteheads/comedones and bumps on my cheeks and forehead are still there, and it's driving me crazier than ever. It seems that I'll need to be visiting my derm again to see if he has any suggestions. I feel quite depressed about it all. When I first started Differin, I was positive it was going to work. I am wondering if ANYTHING will cure my terrible complexion. Does anyone have an idea of where I will go from here?
On another note: last month, I noticed an odd bump on my right cheek a couple of inches under my eye that wasn't going away. The bump was the same color as my skin, but when I would smile, you could see a tiny little dent on my cheek (although, I'm sure it was only visible to me). I was getting tired of it, so last night I tried to squeeze it and see if I could get pus out. I wasn't able to get pus out, but it did get dark red and start 'weeping' with some sort of liquid. I'm kind of concerned, because as I type this, I can tell that it's STILL weeping twenty-four hours later. What could it be?
Thank you so much for listening to me ramble. I've been dealing with these issues for over a year and a half now, and it's taking it's toll!
Try to be patient with the differin, it should work after some time. It is considered a midler retinoid, as it contains adapalene instead of tretinoin. From my experience of using differin, its side effects were less brutal. It does work, just be patient and you will see results - give it at least six months. Just use a cleanser and moisturiser and don't exfoliate with scrubs/use masks as this will irritate your skin. Also try to stay out of the sun as you may burn.
I think it also helps not to touch your face or pick at anything. Picking will only prolong the pain and leave more scars. Basically, just baby your skin and be extremely gentle with it as it is extra sensitive when on a retinoid. All the best!
I have heard that .3 of differin is stronger than .025% or retina-a. Hmmm...I agree with the last poster, you will probably need to give it another 3 months before making a change. I was actually using retina .025% for 3 months and while it did seem to smooth my skin, it did not clear some bumps I had underneath my skin. (the main reason I went on it) So, I went up to the .05% and in the last 2 weeks that I have been using it, it already got rid of a few of those bumps. So, the lower the strength, the more time it will take. If differin doesn't seem to do it for you, you might want to consider retin-a or tretinoin.
