what do you mean the one side of your thyroid is gone? Was it removed or did it disappear somehow?

On 5/21/2013 at 1:07 AM, oli girl said:

hmm...You know I always thought about taking Iodine, but I am not sure if it would do me any good as shortly after accutane the right side of my thyroid is almost completly gone and the other side there is quite a bit left. For thoose who know and read my story which was linked, you will know that I was in really bad shape after accutane to point I could barely walk for almost a year and that accutane caused Grave's disease and when it hit it hit hard and fast! Grave's is a lot harder to treat and control vs hasimotos or low thyroid!

Anyways I was just curious on anyone thoughts???? - Jen

I developed a huge goiter to the point I could not swallow and my heart rate was 190 and it kept attacking my eyes (luckily my eyes went back in, but left with some lazy eye) I tried natural treatments and standard medication (indocin, proprandol etc.) for Graves, however it was full force attacking my body to point I had a small amt of radiation iodine and I mean very small! In Hasimoto's people and take synthyroid to control thier goiter and some are lucky that synthyroid stops the body from attacking the thyroid in Hasimoto's, Grave's not soo much! It was all very strange I might say

I just have to try and move past the accutane faze of my life, thinking about it too much isnt doing any good. Im going to try and get off the antidepressant slowly and go from there. I think Ive talked one person out of accutane, I hope so anyway. I am getting way too obsessive reading all the things which may or may not happen to me I cant stop telling everybody not to take accutane Im probably getting on peoples nerves but what can you do? We cant save everyone, if they dont want to be saved.

Goodbye for now people, I may or may not be back. Stay strong, Oli Girl, Livetoregret, hang in there, and Cameron and Gladiatoro be nice remember who is the real enemy here [Edited image out]

bye guys thanks for the info and help.

Today I had to blot my face several times. My face hasn't been this oily in... wow, I don't even know!

Is it the glucosamine/hyaluronic acid kicking in? Is it the Triple Leaf Detox tea I started last week? Is it the aloe vera gel I've been putting on my face recently?

Whatever it is, I'm doing something right!

will accutane stunt facial growth?

has anyone under 18 who took accutane felt their face didn't change at all after 5 years?

[removed]

i read that accutane may even make your face look fat and ugly.

This is from a former accutane user , I got the info off her.

I regret taking this drug. I've just turned 24, and I feel 74. My body is aching as I type this. I get out of breath if i climb a short flight of stairs and I've started coughing and wheezing at night time. I've heard accutane is a chemo drug? Sounds about right. Its sucked all the life out of me. I don't feel passion to do anything anymore.

These are my side effects she says.

Extreme fatigue
Dry skin
DRY LIPS
Pressure headaches/migraines
Nausea
Ears pop all the time like I'm on a plane..
Stiff neck
Sore dry eyes sensitive to light
Blurry vision
Can't see in the dark at all anymore
Trouble concentrating (brain fog?)
Joint and back pain
Extreme mood swings and depression
Heartburn?!
Rectal bleeding

Yes a miracle drug indeed , enough said . Another accutainted victim.

Not that it needs to be said, but it was not addition, but subtraction that yielded results. You removed the great supplanter/usurper that is DHT inhibition in its many guises; and, hey presto, we have a little issue resolving to talk about in the context of the hitherto unresolvable.

I'm still doing reasonably well. Current foci are going to bed earlier, controlling overeating, and increasing / being regular with UDCA dosage. Later I will try to comprehensively hack my apparent absence of bile / pancreatic production.

Major breakthrough. Doubled dose of UDCA to something ridiculous like 2g per day. Massive improvement. Definitely had cholestasis. Detox and digestive systems were not working, no matter how perfect the regimine, still life was difficult. Now is easy.

For pain management , especially joint pain we suffer from , think twice before taking aspirin.

Hi SBowlChica

Could u tell me what you have been doing ? I also have dry skin via post Accutane

P.S. for anyone out there who has Seborrheic dermatitis, I have been using pure cocoa butter on my face at night time, and its completely cleared it up. Not just on my face, but on my scalp too! I only use the cocoa butter on myface but with SD, once it flares, its like it spreads, so once I got my face clear, it automaticalloy cleared up the scap SD

Haven't tested expanding diet yet, but overeating seems to be not a problem, or vastly less problematic. Will know more as time passes. Taking LOTS of UDCA.

Is it still white rice, scallops, shrimp, low fat yoghurt?

does anyone know ANYTHING that works for hair loss? like WORKS, not maybe works. I'm thinking it's lack of hydration in the scalp, but again, theory.

I wish I had a cure for you, but I haven't really heard of anyone 100% recovery unless it is just from a vitamin deficiency or they only suffered from TE! Some with hormonal issues recover, but I have found that I go in cycles due to the hormonal issue of thyroid and diabetes even if they are both under control bleh :( Outside of the your recent jojoba oil try! Sometimes it seems that things work for awhile and then tend to stop working....

Hope everyone is doing well

Jen

Thanks Jen.

So are you implying if it's TE than it can go away over time? mine started thinning on year 8 off accutane when i started a highly stressful job. I also began smoking MJ around this time, but not a substantial amount. I also use vaporization over smoking which is much healthier. Maybe it can be both factors? or maybe my body is just damaged permanently and i have to find ways to manage side effects, but i'm still not sold on this. There are days where i feel completely normal and days where i feel like a crippled person...what is causing this vacillation? I've cut out mostly all unnecessary vitamins to give my stomach a break too.

I went running today in the first time in a while without hip pain. my osgood schlatters felt a little achy but i bought bands to relieve inflammation. Im so excited about being able to run! i jsut spent 5 months on PT which was a major struggle. still have most of my leg issues, but stretching and strengthening much alleviate the aches and pains!

Oh, yeah I have days were I feel like gold and sometimes weeks, it seems in the Accutane population that side effects wax and wane. What I mean is there are some who just suffer form hair loss due to Accutane and nothing else, not all but some of them recover from the dryness and loss of hair, especially if it is TE. Now if there are other issues involved and hair loss is part of that then not so much. People have done better in other words got the hair loss to stop but the texture, dryness or slow in growth continues.

I hope that made sense. Glad you have been able to run, enjoy those small strides to recovery [Edited image out]

No, it's now full fat homemade yoghurt, shrimp, and organic free range chicken. Working quite well, with high dose UDCA. Optimistic about expanding to free range eggs.

Hey guys, I am in the same boat :( Suffering from hair loss, its horrible, I literally walk around in the dark so that I don't see my hair. I really wish this drug never existed. Atleast i have managed to sort out the hives and dry sculp I guess... I wish you all the best of luck, I am so sorry to hear about your accutane related troubles :(
