Minocycline Dizziness?

I know dizziness is a common side effect on Minocycline. What I can't seem to find anywhere is how long the dizziness lasts.

Does this side effect go away after being on the medication for a while?

Interesting, thanks for your response.

So the dizziness never went away? Because I've only been on this since Wednesday and I've been feeling constantly dizzy. Sometimes it's barely noticeable and other times it's really bad. I don't know if I can do it for another 8 weeks, as my doctor wants me to!

But if the dizziness is only going to last another week or something then I can deal with it...

I was put on minocycline when I was having my first severe flare-up of acne. For me, the dizziness was a constant thing. I had severe feelings of vertigo. It came to the point where I couldn't tolerate it anymore and went to my doctor to ask her if I was suppose to be reacting this way. She then put me on doxycycline which kicked in right away. If your dizziness doesn't go away, go to your doctor so they can give you another tetracycline that your body can better adjust to :)

I'll go to the pharmacy and see what they think about foods/medicines that might reduce dizziness. Thanks!

And hopeful87, did doxycycline make you dizzy at all?

Ive always suffered from vertigo. Mino made it slightly worse(meaning more often, or having it lieing down instead of just during fast movement), but since I'm "used" to daily vertigo it wasnt the worst thing on earth. Dramamine doesn't help much (just makes me sleepy, and stops the adrenaline rush in a car).

Doxy was by far worse overall however, same symptoms as mino only much worse (constant)headaches and LOTS of tummy aches/heartburn. I couldn't take it long.

I took tetracycline as a teen for over a year - never had any side effects that I can recall. So just cause one causes bad side effects doesn't mean they(in the same family) all will. Unfortunately, tetracycline did really nothing to help - I have no idea why they kept me on it soooo long.

Minocycline gave me serious vertigo (and I'm a dancer, so that was definitely a no-go for me!), but I was fine on doxy. You can also take doxy with food, unlike other tetracylines, which was a huge plus for me. Definitely minimized the nausea.

Doxycycline has not made me dizzy once. If you are planning on switching over to doxy, the only recommendation I would make is to take it with some food. Like a slice of toast or some crackers because it MAY cause gastrointestinal issues (like a tummy ache or vomiting if you're extra sensitive). Knowing my body, I'm sensitive to everything sadly. But I have yet to react to doxycycline (thank God for that!)... Good luck!

I was on Solodyn (type of minocycline). I had extreme dizziness starting around day 4. Also extremely tired. It went away in around 10 days. I almost went off of it because of it. But, it did go away, and then I didn't have the problem again.

Hey I also have vertigo. I was recently prescribed minocycline. I was afraid that it would cause my vertigo to worsen or show up more often. I hate feeling dizzy so I dont even want to take them anymore. What other acne medication have you tried that have not aggravated your vertigo? It would help a lot thanks
