Continous Low Dose Accutane for Oily Skin

I finished a 6 month course of accutane at 0.5 mg/k/d just over a month ago. Over that time my spots disappeared completely and wasn't oily at all - having 'normal' skin felt amazing! Now my skin is just as oily as before I went on accutane and the spots are returning...

What are people's thoughts about continuous, low-dose accutane to control oil production (the main reason why I think I get acne)?

I've found these articles which are quite interesting:

.A. Palmer, S. Sidhu, P.G. Goodwin (2000) 'Microdose' isotretinoin

British Journal of Dermatology 143 (1) , 205a206

Sabine E. GeiAYler, Silke Michelsen, Gerd Plewig (2003) Very low dose isotretinoin is effective in controlling seborrhea. Niedrig dosierte Isotretinoin-Therapie ist wirksam bei SeborrhA

Journal der Deutschen Dermatologischen Gesellschaft 1 (12) , 952a958

Thanks!

Hi!

I was recently on a 3 YEAR course of micro dose accutane (20 mg per week the entire time) and achieved COMPLETELY CLEAR SKIN!! I would have loved to stay on it but I am planning on possibly getting pregnant in one year and so don't want to have it in my system anymore.

I miss it though. I had no side effects (except a worsening of my pre-existing dry eye condition) and my skin looked great (better in the summer than the winter though).

I forgot to mention that I have very oily skin and the micro dose accutane reduced my oil production to what I would consider "normal". It was great.
