Yeah it makes me wonder how retarded all these dermatologists that dish out one of the most dangerous prescription drugs around actually are.... Such morons shouldn't have the ability to play with peoples lives like that. I still can't believe accutane is on the market i actually think it is laughable how manipulative a pharmacuitical company can be. If the health industry was purely about health and not business, this drug would of never been around.

i have enough hair to donate to locks of love, so im going to lob it off and give to some poor girl that has hairloss that actually ruins their life.

I can only get the shedding down to about 60-80 hairs per day. But as i look at it thats a great improvement. My body hair is whittling away pretty quickly these days... shows what would be happening to my hair without the steroids. I still believe it will get to a point were all i will need to control it is a once daily application of a topical steroid.

i don't think the drug should necessarily be taken off the market, but I don't think dermatologists should be able to prescribe it all. They are not knowledgeable enough in the internal medicine field to do so. They in turn should have to send you over to a specialist in internal medicine and then have it prescribed. But yes at least here in the US dermatologists are by the far the laughing stock among the medical community. Secondly, the drug is toxic, and shouldn't be taken in amounts over 20mg. In the future long term 10mg courses will become the norm regardless of body weight.

I give you credit for buzzing it all off and just going with it, takes a lot of balls actually. When I was early into it like you I was freaking out and thought my hair looked a lot worse than it really did. But anyway, if nothing else having the hair so short will prevent any fallout i can assure you, the shorter the stronger etc. So even if it doesn't stop and you decide to grow it back out again you're buying yourself more time etc.
Anyway, as I said my hair loss pattern is no where near typical. Front portion has diffused away, and the back portion has as well. The most amount of hair I have left is on the sides which are slowly doing the same. My main problem throughout all of this though is the regrowth, I just cant seem to regrow any at all. I'll lose what looks like eyelash new hairs int he shower sometimes, but the thing is these hairs aren't the typical thinner miniturized ones they look like thick healthy hairs, that just arent able to stay on mys scalp and grow. Most of the hairs though that I lose do seem to be somewhat longer and though. Although I am losing hair everywhere on my scalp and my pubic area has thinned as well. I agree this is auto-immune and technically is diffuse aa, but I still strongly feel there is some underlying condition contributing to all of it. Oh well though I wanted to get a nice hair piece but as I said before my back hair is killing me because its gonna make the situation tough to do so. Thing is yea there are worse things than losing your hair, and I'm not female so thats good, but i didnt expect it to happen so quickly, and at the very least 22. If I was destined to go bald one day, which I would say I had about 20% at most chance of losing any hair at all with the way my family is, I could live with losing my hair in my 30s or 40s, no big deal you're established settled usually had your youth etc. But at 22 it just sort of fazes out a lot one has to look forward to and changes things. that's just the way i feel about it.
Don't know about yall, but I'm keepin mine cut every 2 weeks with a 2 guard all the way around. The good news right now though is that it seems to be regrowing quickly also. Did anybody here ever stop regrowing after they had been for a while? Is that how this thing is supposed to go? And lamaar, are there side effects for the topical steroid?
Yeah i've constantly had alot of regrowth, however the amount of regrowth i have is slowly reducing... But yeah at one point it felt like i was sprowting a whole new head of hair every few months.
With this thing we always produce the same amount of hairs (or close enough) but slowly they become miniturized.
And about the steroids, they are pretty safe on the scalp due to low absorbtion rates, but side affects are possible still e.g. skin thinning and broken cappilaries. People with typical AA use them for years with no problem though. I only apply mine once a day to my whole scalp, twice a day to my temples.
Ithappens there is an underlying cause as to why all these problems manifest, we are no where near knowing that though. The main point is, the hairloss presents itself 100% like Diffuse AA and can be treated in exactly the same way.

As usual, still shed about 20 to 25 strands per day and I am still wondering if I am suffering from alopecia areata seen I did not lost hair from other part of my body except my scalp.
Acne are back as well and this make it even hard to take as I took accutane for the hope of terminating acne once and for all and now not only do I have to suffer from hairloss but acne as well.

what is it about everyones hairloss that troubles them so? for me, as sad as it is, i fear that the response from the ladies will be greatly diminished..
thats a sad notion, but i am not being unrealistic when i say that i have really nice blonde locks, and i think that is most of my game!
i could give a damn about what the general community thinks, or even what i think for that matter... its just the girls... it sounds stupid, but thats it!

I have noticed the presence of short and thin hairs at the edge of my hairline- I wonder if these are miniaturized hairs or hairs that are regrowing? I have also noticed that I am losing some hairs similar to this that are shorter and/or thin. In fact, I have even noticed the loss of some very very thin white hairs. I stopped taking propecia about a month ago, however most of these thin/shorter hairs are long enough such that they've definitely been there for longer than a month. I'm very confused as to whether this is normal regrowth or growth with miniturization. Hopefully the former lol....

Hey Lamarr, you should write your own website to compile everything you have found out then if people ask silly questions you can post links. You obviously have a lot of knowedge on the subject so it could be really good for people to see the full picture with actual evidence before making a decision.
I guess people "slate" you because they start taking this stuff with really high hopes and get scared and don't like it when someone tells them the actual possibilities not the rubbish they get from their derm (yeah that was me, sorry).
Anyway, just wanted to say don't give up because I know I always read your replies and trust what you say, and i'm sure im not the only one; not like the rubbish "my friend's girlfriend's cousin's driving instructor said..." or the "it didn't happen to me therefore it won't happen to you" stuff that everyone else says.

haha well we went at it a lot over the past year and a half or so, but we're in the same boat plus you put a lot into all the research aspect of it all so you will certainly be missed. mind you i stopped coming on here all the time basically for the same reason there's really nothing we can do about all of this at this point except try different approaches and hope for the best. anyway, as i said before as much as this sucks with the hair loss there are viable options out there for it with certain wigs etc, and overall at least i still have my health, physically and mentally, after taking this drug which is something many people can not say. I plan on going into a partial hair piece over the summer despite my back hair diffusing away. Reasonably that should give me a good year or two before I have to consider a full out whole one based on how thin my back hair has become. Looking at it logically though if I can get away with it and it looks good it shouldnt be that big of a deal considering how real looking some of them are currently. Anyway, to the new guys coming on here you will get over it eventually, trust me it sucks I know, but there's options out there if you don't want to be bald. As far as everything else I'm hereby announcing my retirement from this place along with Lamarr because I have been here since the start of this thing with him and I respect him thoroughly. Lamarr, I could care less about your hair and just wish you the best in terms of physical and mental health from this stuff. Anyway, I'm out good luck to everyone.
