^ Nizoral causes some folks just so you're aware. You're not a female are you? If you're a guy I guess you can wear a baseball cap or just shave it off.

I understand your pain, I live through this every day.

Picked up my meds today. Soooo my every other day regime begins tonight

Every other night befor bed: (night before I wash my hair)

1 Evenly apply Fluocinolone Acetonide topical Solutions USP, 0.01% all over my scalp I then wait 30 mins.

2. Then mix together 60% of Emu-oil and 40% grape-seed oil into a solution jar mix well and apply it onto the sclap with dropper (concentrating on the thinnest areas such as the very top of my scalp and the sides of my head)

Every night: Sleep on my silk pillowcase take my b12 supplement and Iron supplement and birth control.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated

I had mine tested after fasting 8 months from Vit A and it was border, that was about 2 yrs ago and I still have problems w/ foods w/ vit A in it even beta form...

Lessett- I wish you the best and hope the regimen they gave you works. I foregot did you have a biopsy of your scalp?????

No, I have not had a scalp biopsy but I plan on requesting one from my Derm on Tuesday.

PROBLEM!!! The steroid solution is pretty greasy and since I wash my hair every other day, I don't see how I'm going to apply it everyday!

Had my blood work done this morning, they collected 9 vials of blood

It seems that the burning sensation has stopped but it itches and now I have a painful pimple on my scalp Ugh!! Now what's happening????

thulsa, what you are saying is that while your hairline receded a bit, it looked a lot worse than it really was because your temples lost a lot of hair? did your temple hair grow back so that your hairline looks better now?

Hi Oli Girl,

So freaking hard to believe that the topical retin A is as bad as the Tane, but I know from my experience it must be. I've not found very many people posting about the hair loss from topicals. Where are they posting?

Yes, liposomal Glutathione is a major detoxer for the liver. It's a tri-peptide of 3 amino acids. We make it naturally in the liver, but it's used therapeutically to push toxins out of the liver. There are many toxins that create problems for the liver. Supplying exogenous glutathione, or NAC, is great for pushing the liver to release it.

A supplement that turns into glutathione is NAC. You can get a sustained release formula like this one:

Read the reviews for what people use it for.

When I saw that my liver was over range with vitamin A after two months off retin A that confirmed my suspicions of retin A being the problem. I didn't use it that many times total (maybe 30 times), but the strength was the key.

Lessett- sorry girl! It %#&@ sucks! This drug and the hair loss seem to cause inflammation of the scalp. You might want to do something to deal with the inflammation. GLA, gamma linoleic acid, is naturally occurring in certain foods. It's one of the best anti-inflammatories and is lipid soluble which is what it takes to penetrate into the follicle. After doing much research into scalp pain I discovered through experimenting that taking the combo of Borage Oil and cayenne (40,000 HU) totally knocked the pain and inflammation down. If you want more info on it just ask. I am now suspecting that it also might indeed lower the loss somewhat too.

Eileen.

Just got back from the Holistic Physician. We went over my lab work and its perfect. Her suggestion was to go back to the derm who gave me accutane and demand a scalp biopsy. Her words "You cant properly treat any type of Alopica without a proper diagnosis" She recommend that I continue to use the steroid since I have itching. I have my Derm appointment on Tuesday. I'll update then!

In other news, I have been diagnosed with Depression, Anxiety and Insomnia. Nothing new, just problems I have been ignoring for a few years but recently I have been experiencing more frequent and pretty severe anxiety attacks, its defiantly getting worse. Zoloft, Ambien, Lorazepam and a recommended Phycologist Is what I received today.

Tesasboy15, I know how you feel. I'm... "The glass is 1/2 empty and its CRACKED!!!!" kinda girl. Lol

I'm trying my very best to accept the worst possible scenario and that anything different will be a blessing.

I hope to get my scalp biopsy done on Tuesday.

Yeah I was pretty nerve wracked waiting for the results of my biopsy. For 11 months, I kept stressing wondering if I had MPB, then after I got the results that said it was not MPB, I was so happy I ran up and hugged my derm.

I think the steroid topical is making me breakout (on my scalp)with itchy pimples. Anyone else have this problem?

Also, I wasn't sure before but my temples are thinning more than the rest of my head. I'm getting the M shape look. :eh:

I really hope the emu-oil and grape seed-oil start stimulating some hair growth. I haven't seen any new growth, I'm getting nervous, this shedding is relentless. :wall:

I have a question, can an itchy scalp be an indicator of hair loss? I know I'm paranoid but I can't just chalk it up to an itchy scalp.

After I wash my hair the itch persists and returns the following morning. It doesn't hurt or cause any swelling, it's just rather annoying.

At times I feel like I have a couple of pimples on my scalp, what can I do about this? Is it foreshadowing new hair loss?

I was having the same problem a few days ago "itchy pimples" I think it was the steroid solution I was applying at night. Ive stopped using it for few days and I'm not itchy anymore and pimples are going away BUT... there's always something new, NOW I have some pain/soreness at the very top of my head. Tender when I touch. This fucking SUCKS!

I'm stilling shedding maybe little less, Im probably down to about 100 hairs a day when I wash it and 65 on all other days. Im getting use to the shedding, I'm growing hair just nowhere near enough! But this scalp discomfort is a problem gives me a headache

SClippers : I have the same questions. I dont really understand "scalp inflammation/itching and hair loss" Is your scalp flakey? Do you feel that heat sensation when you touch your scalp?

Send 'em my way, please :)

The above study is the reason why I actually bought UVB reptile pet lamps a year ago because that is the closest to what I can replicate the study. But I guess like it said, it would take 1 to 2 years for UVB / PUVA to take effect. So now I'm gonna be looking for local doctors who can perform this.

EDIT: you can use Dropbox.com or 4shared.com and share the public URL for the files only to those whom you shared the link.

I have a hotfile account i will upload to this and provide the link in this thread.

I actually use sunbeds (i have a modified full body one at home) to help manage my accutane sides, I use UVA bulbs as this has been proven for lupus and is used in PUVA. It has a systemic effect in normalising the immune system.

It helps all of my side effects but is no cure. You can actually buy a handheld UV comb, it is made by androv. I look into all of this years ago and it isn't powerfull enough IMO but if someone is willing to test it....

I was actually going to make a low level laser device using UV lasers. Not the same as the excimer but would still deliver the correct wavelengths.

How is the topical and dermaroller going btw?

thulsa, what you are saying is that while your hairline receded a bit, it looked a lot worse than it really was because your temples lost a lot of hair? did your temple hair grow back so that your hairline looks better now?

Sorry, I didn't catch this when it was originally posted; hence my rather later reply.

That's pretty much correct. My hairline has receded but it's been slight, but that's right: before, the temple region had hair hanging over it some, and when those "corner" hairs were lost, I got more of that "M" shape, resulting in an older look.

The corner regions have grown back quite a bit, but as I said, they're still not what they were before. Presumably, though, if they've improved this much, they'll continue to improve. At this rate, it could take several more months to get back to normal. It took sixteen months post-Accutane just to get to this point. My hair's still quite a bit thinner all over, although this is probably much more noticeable to me when I run my hand through it than it is visually. But it's finally reached a point where I don't feel too bad about it anymore. Good luck everyone.
