Some people just don't react well to retinoids. You might go back to your derm and ask for a different, less-irritating topical ... Differin or Finacea, perhaps.

Oh, and I'm moving this thread over to the Prescription Retinoids subforum.

I'm in my 5th month too using 0.025% tretinoin. Although I'm not completely free of acne and acne scars from the initial breakout, I can see that my skin is a lot smoother than when I started. I'm still waiting for that clear face. I'm trying to be very hopeful with this product since I've already tried many acne products that failed.

I know how you feel, the frustration and time waiting. Just keep using it.

youve been applying it right? like only at night and with a moisturizer? maybe you can get bumped to a higher dosage and a gel

I really saw how it make my skin texture really better after like 2 months or so just took some time

Dude let me save you a lot more pissing about, go to ur derm and get accutane right away, if this stuff doesn't work its time for accutane. You haven't been doing it wrong, there's no other magical topical treatment out there, just go and get accutane and put urself into a state of mind that won't allow ur derm to talk you out of it.

What concentration? You may need a stronger Rx

Maybe you should try something different. Everyone is different and so is the acne :( it sucks. After 6 months of not working i say move on

I had a similar problem using tretinoin. My skin would get irritated, and I suspect that contributed to breakouts. So I switched to the weakest concentration, which is .01%. I use a generic brand gel. My skin seems to tolerate it pretty well, and it's definitely kept my acne somewhat under control for a few years, although I still break out sometimes, and usually have a small spot or two.

I use to use it only every three nights, but I've been using it every night for a while now. I also am careful not to put too much, just a pea sized dab. Hope that's of some help.
