Hello Everyone,
I hope I am posting in the most appropriate forum.
Throughout my accutane course I developed these unsightly bumps-- which haven't gone away 8 months post treatment.
I am currently using differing, with a touch of BP in the morning. I wash with purpose (morning and night) and use the acne.org moisturizer. I use an eltaMD sunscreen.
A little about the bumps:
Flesh colored-- flat, noticeable under sunlight or when face is angled towards a light.
They are located on my cheeks and temples.
They do not itch, burn, or cause any discomfort but are unsightly.
My dermatologist said he didn't know what they were, and would have to do a biopsy to figure out exactly what they are. He told me that it would leave a scar, so we decided to leave them alone.
BP seems to dry them out, but does not get rid of them completely. Any insight on what this may be and how I could go about treating it?
Thanks in advance.
I have similar on my neck that are really raised and cant be hidden very easily. Another post here mentioned comedones - black heads under the skin (after a 5 second google). Might pay to see another derm as it seems like theyre extremely common. Ive just started accutane but apparently that doesnt work on these. Go figure. Good luck getting them sorted Oh and it said to not pick/irritate them as they 'spread' for lack of a better word
They are closed comedones.
(Clogged Pores that have really been clogged, by a type of makeup, face wash, or anything you apply to your face that is not good)
To Avoid: Use products labeled Non - Comodegenic
To treat: Salicylic Acid or Adapalene Cream
Find a treatment including Salicylic Acid or and Adapalene cream (prescribed) and apply it to those areas. Stop using the pore-clogging product. They will go away.
Dear Friends-- Happy 2019!
An update on this condition!
I noticed that gelsaggravate this condition (still unknown). I have visited multiple dermatologists who say that they don't know what it is, and that the only way to tell, would be by a biopsy, which would leave some scarring-- long story short they recommended against the biopsy.
The only thing that did help was using Neutrogena's On-the-Spot ointment, however they have since changed the formula and it is now a gel!
I decided to try Trentinoin again (previously it wrecked havoc on my skin and didn't help acne prior to accutane) and it is the ONLY thing that has helped. When I don't use Tretinointhose raised bumps (whatever they are) re-appear. I have let my skin go a month without not using anything and acne re-appeared, along with those unsightly bumps, so I try not to let 1-2 days pass without using Tretinoin.
My regimen consists of Dan'sacne.org cleanser, tretinoin 1% atnight, and Ultra Repair Sensitive Skin Cream by First Aid Beauty (you can find it at Sephora).
I hope this helps!
