I have a breakdown of the specific bacterial genus/species that I'm either deficient or over-abundant in, so have been able to tailor a specific program for my case of dysbiosis.... which should be much better than 'shooting blind'.
That's not to say it's going to work, but it gives me a better shot than just using random probiotic strains!
A lot of my protocol is actually based in trying to increase prebiotic fibre through supplementation and providing food for the under-represented bacterial groups to multiply, rather than just trying to add in probiotics which often aren't enough, as you mentioned.
I'm also trying to reduce intestinal permeability as I have a excess of lipopolysaccharides which can be super inflammatory if they escape the gut.
Not feeling too hopeful right now - but I'll keep the thread updated.
Best of luck.
Hi all,
It's been a long time since my last post.
I'm interested by the Fecal Transplant. It seems very promising for some desease. Keep us informed
Recently I read articles about gut microbiota and it seems to beTHE key. For example, look at this publication : https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/31284694 . It said that "Acne also has close connections with the gastrointestinal tract, and many argue that the gut microbiota could be involved in the pathogenic process of acne. The emotions of stress (e.g., depression and anxiety), for instance, have been hypothesized to aggravate acne by altering the gut microbiota and increasing intestinal permeability, potentially contributing to skin inflammation. Over the years, an expanding body of research has highlighted the presence of a gut-brain-skin axis that connects gut microbes, oral probiotics, and diet, currently an area of intense scrutiny, to acne severity. This review concentrates on the skin and gut microbes in acne, the role that the gut-brain-skin axis plays in the immunobiology of acne, and newly emerging microbiome-based therapies that can be applied to treat acne." When I read this, I am so a so upset against dermatologists and other doctors of them who told me that there was no connection between skin and diet/gut....
In the same way, you can read this article https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/31386766 and this short resum of a French Research Center https://presse.inserm.fr/en/francais-decryptage-du-lien-entre-microbiote-intestinal-et-allergie-cutanee/32548/ . A
I noted that there are many studies on gut microbiota and its role in the emergence of many diseases. However, the link between microbiota and skin diseases like folliculitis is rarely studied whereas we are so many to empirically note a link between our diet and our skin...
So, I am thinking about writing an e-mail to a researcher to encourage studies on the subject. The message would be stronger if we create a collective, an association or something like.. you see what I mean ? There are associations of patients of all kinds (eczema, psoriasis etc.) so why not for folliculitis ?
Furthermore, I found recent studies establishing a link between red wine, psyllium, green tea and microbiota. Look at that :
- https://www.newscientist.com/article/2214561-red-wine-drinkers-have-more-diverse-gut-bacteria-than-other-drinkers/ (vine and microbiota)
- https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/30195522 (wine and microbiota)
- https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6033105/ (tea and microbiota)
- https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12871030 (tea and skin !)
- https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27062963 (tea and acne !)
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15331020 (tea and glucose level)
- https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26955458 (tea and liver)
- https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24065295 (tea and liver)
- https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/30669509 (psyllium and microbiota)
So now, I stopped coffee (very dehydrating*) except some cup the week end, and I take several cup of tea per day instead. I also drink a glass of red wine once a day or every two day, and take 2 tablespoon of psyllium husk per day. Sometime I continue to take celery juice the morning on a empty stomach fresh (too difficult to buy every day celery). I almost never eat junk food and industrial food but have a "normal" diet rich in fruits and vegetables and whole grains.
*I noted that dehydration is very harmful to folliculitis
I also continue to use BP (in gel and face wash) and put essential oil on my moisturizer (tea tree + Lavandula latifolia). And on my back when a have pimples, I use a sulfur soap. This is the best and simpliest treatment I found.

Yeah, I surely will. I'm currently searching for a Dr. who would be ready to carry out this procedure without prescribing antibiotics as they consider FMT to be the last resort. Moreover in India this procedure has hardly been researched on & the Dr.s here are too arrogant to take any suggestions from the patient. FMT has been able to show remarkable results in cases of autism, BPD, C.Diff and many more diseases. In our case also we have seen that our stomach controls the severity of our skin condition. So I'm all for it.
Also I'm ready to be a part of a collective group to make our concern reach to the right person. But how do you plan to do it.

"Arrogance" : exactly. Dr.s can't heard a patient telleing them that they are wrong and their knowledge are not up to date...
Concerning the collective group, we could create an association if a sufficient number of people were interested..
An interesting figur attached to the a study I posted in my last post. All factors are there : stress, food and glucose level, microbiota
Title : A proposed model of the gutbrainskin axis in acne. HPA: hypothalamic pituitary adrenal; IGF-1: Insulin-like growth factor-1; SCFA: short chain fatty acid.

Has your condition been cured by use of this kefir?
hi everyone. in earlier post. i talked about serum from one of aestethic clinic in my city. as you guys know, it worked really well and never failed to cure this this type of acne.
i stop using the serum because i dont want to rely on it forever. now i found over the counter product that really work.
TRUST ME! the answer of our problem is THE ORDINARY NIACINAMIDE 10% AND ZINC 2%.
i have been using this product for two weeks. and no single pustule pop up. its amazing to be able to find otc product that really work well.
i think your acne keep recuring is because your skin barrier is damaged, combined with oily skin, and people with this condition have overly sensitive skin. the two ingredients in the product is the answer of those problem.
please stop talking about diet. you are not doctor. my dermatologist said there is no corelation beetween acne and food. diet only for people with alergies.
and stop taking antibiotic for long term. you can cure the pustule with topical.
im not trying to sell product. we have same problem here. i only share my experience. i've been dealing whit this kind of acne since 2009. so i pretty much sure which product work, wich not.
sorry bad grammar.

Do your skin worsen when you exfoliate ?

yes. i stop using salicylic acid and retinoid. it makes my skin red.
my routines (morning & night):
1. wash my face with cosrx low ph good morning cleanser
2. apply cosrx centella water alcohol free toner
3. apply the ordinary niacinamide & zinc
4. cosrx aloe shooting sun cream in the morning
i like cosrx product so much because the ingredients is very simple. they don't add additives. just actives.
in two weeks. no pustule pop up. my skin tone is slowly back to normal. no redness.

Guess what? My dermatologist said the same thing and I used to believe in it. I have very very very oily T-Zone, and very very dry jaw area. I used to get constantly white zits almost every day in the jaw area and around nose, like for years. Until, I removed dairy and gluten completely, basically I just eat meat. After two weeks, I wasn't gettingany new zits on my face, and the old ones were fading. It's a very hard diet and I managed to stick to it for like 2 months, and all that time my face was clear from acne, although I was still oily and dry like before. So, the day after I eat a dairy product, I had a zit again in my jaw area, I couldn't believe it. I repeated the experiment like 5-6 times and it's always the same story, gluten + dairy == acne. Food _does_ cause acne in some people due to food sensitivities in the gut. We can't win this battle just by taking vitamins, we have to heal the gut!

How long to wait to see the result of niacinamide ?
Was it a typo when you wrote it or Zinc is just 1% ? I can't find the one with 2% on Amazon. Also I'm curious, what kind of skin do you have? Is it Oily, Dry, combination ?

yes. sorry. it was typo. i mean 1%zinc.
i am oily. very very oily.
@gilang91Thank you. Did it help you inthat regard, are you less oily now or is it the same ?
For the record I triedTHE ORDINARY NIACINAMIDE 10% AND ZINC 1% on the basis of the message above and broke out in 26 spots. I'm currently averaging 5-10/day so after a few days gave up on it... it may of course, work for you.
The zincis supposed to dry out the sebum, but I'm not sure that's needed for us as our acne isn't necessarily a sebum problem. The Niacinamide is supposed to fight the yellow pustules and reduce inflamation, and in the first 24 hours it did suggest it would.
The skin however became very dry and stiff which seems to make our condition worse. I've yet to find a reliable moisturiser which doesn't worsen things, though I was using Neutrogena Oil Free.

at first use. my skin become dry and flaky.. but i keep using it. now everything back to normal. my face has become less oily.

i also experience dryness and flakiness during first time use and there is burn sensation. but i keep using it.
now everything back to normal. and my face become less oily. i think you need to give it more time to work on your skin. its a high strength vitamin. it may cause some unwanted reaction.
if you have oily skin. please don't put any moisturizer. just apply hydrating toner instead.
@gilang91I see. I've been reading some reviews of this product on amazon, many people with the oil problem reported decreased sebum(oil) production after using it, but then again it didn't do anything for some people. It works like for 7 out of10 people, which is pretty good. I'll probably start using the product tomorrow or the day after, but not the one from Ordinary, I can't find it in my country, but it sure is niacinmide 10% and zinc %1. Edit: actually found the Ordinary, I'll try with that one.
Hi Guys
I am 43 man from Kuwait
I do body building
eating healthy foods without sugar
one day i have this Zits in my face
for one year ago
I do not know how many lucky when i found this topic
I had this problem Zits in face
I tried all the medicines but without any healing mark
I visited many doctors
Conducted AIDS analysis
Virus C analysis
But in the end I discovered the main cause of this problem
I discovered that the germ is the cause
they call
hpylori
A germ that affects the stomach
I conducted a long research and discovered that the main cause of the problem
So when you take an antibiotic, you stop working germ for some time
Because you do not use an antibiotic This bacterium is returned after the antibiotic has been discontinued
I search in internet watched many videos of doctors
they said the main reason of this Zits
in our face
that germ in stomach
please go to to lab and do this analysis
I am sure you will found positive if you have same our Zits
I attached my Zits and lab analysis
please stop all creams and serums
and check this Analysis
thank you
Well actually, my blood test did show that I haveh.pylori, but I was told that blood sample is not reliable because it could just mean that I hadh.pylori some time in my life and not at the moment. So, next thing I tried was testing the stool sample, but it came negative for h.pylori...weird.

i think everyone has hpylori since it is common bacteria. but studies found that hpylori might be responsible for skin rash, alergic reaction and rosacea.
@elkhaldeI had very similar result, but as I said, this means nothing because blood tests aren't now showing if you currently have p.hylori at all! To be sure, try testing with stool sample.
Regarding Ordinary niacinamide 10 + zinc 1, today is the 3rd day as I'm using it. I didn't break out which is good I guess, but I'll give it at least 10 days to see what happens.

I did this test showed positive
I am sure this is the issue
