Alright folks, second ever post on here (first one being very unsuccessful with one reply). I'll keep it short.

About 4 months ago now I (FOR SOME IDIOTIC REASON) squeezed a small white spot on my face, it went horribly wrong. Within minuetes I literally felt the inflammation growing. By 48 hours there was an actual bump that stuck out from face a good cm (a smooth lump of inflammation). 6 days after it formed I got into a derm who shot it with small amount of cortisone and drained it (drained what she could, some of it was solid and wouldn't drain). She told me that it would slowly heal and that it didn't appear to be infected (prescribed me keflex anyways.

Today, there is still a hard lump underneath my skin on the spot (which has reduced in redness but by no means completely gone). I have never had anything like this before and don't know what to do. School is about to start again and I literally can't talk to people within a couple feet of me because of how paranoid I am that they are staring at it.

I believe that when I tried to pop whatever it was that started this I accidentally pushed the pus further into my skin as well as damaged my pores. The lump underneath my skin is either a sebaceous cyst or the remains of some inflammation trapped by broken pores...? I dont know,...

Right now I'm steaming my face in hope that opening pores will allow whatever is underneath to come out easily.

How else could I open my pores to allow this to drain? Derm says it is either a cyst that could be cut out (leaving me with a scar) or it is scar tissue that has to heal on its own (this would mean any surgery I go through with [along with the the resulting] scar being for nothing).

Please help. I'm a very social person and it is ruining my life.

Picture attached was taken a couple months ago, redness has subsided a small amount but by no means is gone. More specifically, it is still very red right above the little lump (which could be a cyst, scar tissue or inflammation that has hardened and needs to get out..? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I feel very alone. sad.png

School is starting in 2 months and I need this gone. I am literally counting down the days I have to heal this thing.

121 views and zero replies? Can't anybody give me some input on how to open pores and bring whatever is under my skin out?

You could maybe try a hot compress - that can sometimes help drain cysts if there's a lot of fluid stuck deeper under the skin but it's hard for me to tell if that's what it is from the photo. If that doesn't work and it isn't a cyst you could maybe try the other direction and apply some ice (make sure to wrap it in a plastic bag or tissue paper rather than putting it directly on the skin). Because of its location I'd avoid exfoliants or chemicaly topicals and be very careful with whatever you apply seeing as it's so close to your eye. Good luck!

I second the hot compress...several times a day if possible. Epsom salts are supposed to help too. Also, get a second opinion if you can. Derms can be so hit and miss IMO.
