Hi.
Really never had a serious problem with acne as an adult, only sebborea. I am soon 26. Sure, I've had some spots but nothing worth treating.
A few months back, maybe half a year, I started developing oily skin that at first was not a serious issue, but that kept getting worse. Started using an expensive cleanser that didn't do much, but I still had it under some control.
Some month ago I was recommended vitamin b5, which resulted in the opposite (problems after day 3, getting worse all the time, stopped taking the pills after three weeks). The increased acne is now I guess considered moderate to severe. Started with Dermatologica cleanser + Dermatologica overnight gel + moisturizer, been using this strategy for 2-3 weeks and seen an increase of acne during this period. For half a week I've been using benzoyl peroxide together with cleanser and moisturizer.
This has been and still is a goddamn nightmare.
Questions:
Thoughts/why does it keep getting worse?
Best moisturizers for oily, highly-sensitive skin that can control all the grease?
I use benzoyl peroxide gel, how long should I wait before applying moisturizer?
How long should I wait before seeing a doctor asking for topical antibiotics?
I can show pictures if needed.
Take care.
I agree. Don't wait too long to see a dermatologist if your acne is severe.
Not to sound like a commercial, but I had great luck with Proactive for a while before it stopped working for me. You could try that. Be careful - it bleaches your clothes/towels.
If you are not getting it under control, I would make an appointment with a dermatologist. There are some great prescription products out there (ask about Aczone) that you can start using sooner rather than later, because you wont see results from that for several weeks. Good luck.
Hey, sorry things have been so rough. Can you think of anything that happened in your life a half year ago that would have triggered this? It seems odd that oiliness and acne would have just shown up like that, especially since you're in your twenties... Also, do you have any other medical conditions that you know of? They might be related.

Yeah, I've been trying to understand the reason. I use some psychiatric meds that are known to cause skin problems, but I don't know which one could be doing that and its still out of the question to start making changes right now. I've been using BP for a week and see minor changes for the better. I use 10% which is too harsh even for my extreme sebum production, I will have to use only once a day till I can afford buying 5%. I suffer from chronic anxiety and see an increase in sebum production and acne during intervals.
Thanks for support!
Clinique's moisture surge seems popular. Would this lotion be worth a shot?
I wonder if your anixty and acne issue is really a hormonal imbalance. After I had my daughter, my hormones went crazy and my doctor tried several birth controls to level them out. One of them actually created anxiety attacks 30 minutes after taking. It also caused horrible breakouts. Now that my hormones have leveld out, my skin is much better. The only treatment I found that worked for my acne was Paula's Choice system. You can buy it online. It was amazing... I saw a major improvement in two weeks and within 3 months, my skin looked flawless.
