Hi,
I'm a 26 year old female that is starting to become beyond frustrated. Since my teens I've always had fairly good skin with my bouts of acne only ever being mild at their worst. In high school I saw a dermatologist for my cystic acne, but was never consistently put on anything as the issue never got that bad. Over the past year Ive noticed a big change in my skin. Previously, even if I broke out it was always one or two blemishes at a time that were fairly easy to manage with OTC products. Especially over the last 2-3 months my skin has been completely resistant to any sort of treatment. I've tried a ton of different OTC products including Peter Thomas Roth, Clinique, Skinceuticals, Clean and Clear, Kate Somerville, and some samples of different retinoids from the GP. My breakouts are mainly on my chin and lower cheek area which I know can be hormonal so I've even switched birth control to one lower in androgens (Marvalon for those in Canada) in hopes that this may help. I guess I'm looking for advice as to what the problem may be and therefore what might help. If anyone knows of any great products or regiment that they've had success with. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Hmmm... I also mainly get chin/lower cheek acne, plus some jawline/upper cheek acne for good measure. Have you looked into PCOS, hypothyroidism, or adrenal fatigue? You might want to visit an endocrinologist (a GOOD endocrinologist), so you can get blood/saliva tests. Your gynecologist may have some insight as well. Is diet a possible culprit? Dairy and gluten are two huge offenders for a lot of people. Lastly, what events or changes occurred 2-3 months ago? Maybe this will help shed light on the reason for the skin changes. Hopefully the forum can help you figure out how to overcome this!
